I understand that accidents happen, especially with a huge operation like the USPS. But since my friend paid them to deliver an item that they not only failed to deliver, but have also apparently lost, I don't think that a refund of the postage paid would be out of line. Or at least a credit for him at the PO for the amount he spent to mail the book.

Have you tried working with a magnifying visor? Maybe that would help?

Here's the cherry on top... it was mailed June 15. I received the empty package on June 25. Ten days. Wasn't the mail delivered faster when it was still transported by stagecoach?

I can understand the PO completely losing a package more than I can understand them actually delivering an obviously empty package. $9 postage paid on it, nothing inside, side wide open...
