  1. Bingo! That's it exactly. The number of recalls or number of cars recalled is not the issue.
  2. Yeah, postage might run me a fin or two... but for you it's worth it. I'm not shellfish...
  3. A related question... the fact that the Tamiya stuff was pulled from the market, and now it's back... does that suggest maybe a change in formulation? Otherwise why stop selling it and then start again? Maybe they've addressed the bubbling problem. Just a guess.
  4. I've heard good things about the Testors One Coat. Gotta try that.
  5. It's tiptoeing around the edges... but like Skip said, we're really not making any blatant Republican-Democrat posts. Yet. I'm watching it... if it gets too blatantly ideological I'll have to close it... but so far so good, I think.
  6. Oh! A wise guy! Nyuk nyuk nyuk...
  7. Not exactly a rave review. So again, I wonder... what makes this stuff so worthy of all the gushing and giddiness with some people, given the fact that there are tons of clears out there, most of which sell for a lot less per ounce? What makes it so special? Not trying to be a jerk, I'm seriously asking, because I've never used it, but have used Duplicolor clear and been perfectly satisfied.
  8. I might ship it COD just for the halibut...
  9. So why the big fuss about it? (Not asking you specifically... just asking in general). Obviously I'm missing something here. Is it "better" than Duplicolor? I know it's a lot more expensive...
  10. I'll carve the details into stone tablets and ship them to you...
  11. How's this for scary? Yesterday afternoon's radar... looks like they got pretty wet in Iowa before we got it!
  12. Is it a lacquer or enamel? What's so dang special about it? Is it that dramatically better than any other clear out there, like, say, Duplicolor?
  13. From accuweather.com... "Today's instantaneous communication of weather extremes by way of social media commands the use of attention-grabbing terms. There is a risk of overuse of terms like derecho or blizzard. However, the term "strong or severe thunderstorms" is used so commonly today that we felt many people may disregard a potentially life-threatening event if we stopped there." So what he's basically saying is that they have to be on the edge of hysteria just to get people's attention these days...
  14. BTW... if you read some of the stories online regarding our weather last night, you'd think Chicago was completely blown off the face of the earth. They really like to get into hyperbole in some of those weather stories... always making it sound way worse than it really was.
  15. I looked it up. Apparently a "derecho" is basically a line of strong, land-based thunderstorms. Sort of like we've been getting here since, oh... forever. But I guess "derecho" sounds way cooler than "severe thunderstorm."
  16. They list part numbers, but not who manufactured the switches.
  17. Yeah, that's the newest fad here. I've lived here all my life and never has that word been used in weather forecasts until last year.
  18. Oh, man, how I would love it if we had a "Politics" section...
  19. Actually you can blame NHTSA... they are now looking at all automakers in regards to the problem, due to GM's mess. Chrysler had actually already recalled certain 2010 models for this problem; this new recall is a NHTSA-based expansion of that recall and now covers models between 2007-2009 also.
  20. Military contracting has nothing to do with the government choosing which private companies are "worthy" of taxpayer bailouts. A completely separate issue and nothing to do with the GM bailout. The government has to contract civilian companies to produce the material the military needs, as the federal government is not a manufacturer of military hardware. But awarding military contracts to suppliers is not the same thing as the government bailing out companies. True that there is a lot of waste, corruption, and general ineptness involved in military contracting... but it's a completely different issue than government bailouts.
  21. None of the articles I've read say whether the switch is the same unit that was used by GM.
  22. Why would you? You didn't say anything out of line or break any forum rules. Your post is perfectly fine; I don't see any problem at all. Oh. ok... NOW I get that comment!
