  1. Notice how the lacing pattern on the wire wheels in the cars in the above photo are very different? There must have been more than one source for wire wheels back then. Thanks, Earl!
  2. I can email you a jpeg. I'd do it in several sizes and just use the one that looks best. You wouldn't have to size it at all... just print out the jpeg.
  3. That could get you in a heap of trouble these days...
  4. Gentlemen... I need a favor. I am currently without a working color printer. Would one of you be able to print out a Stutz radiator badge for me? Doesn't need to be a decal, printed on plain paper is just fine. I would supply the artwork and my mailing address.
  5. These are both later model years, but you get the idea..
  6. I'm leaning towards no windscreen. Yes, I won the ITC kit. According to tracking it should be here tomorrow.
  7. Any auto parts store. I bought a can of DupliColor white vinyl dye and sprayed a set of black Model T tires white.
  8. You can spray the kit tires white with automotive interior vinyl fabric dye. A lot cheaper than buying a set of white tires from MM.

  10. No, sorry. I just found it in the sewing/fabric section of Hobby Lobby. I knew the look I was after, and when I saw this I knew it's what I wanted. I don't know the name of it (or if it even has a specific name), but I think it's meant to be used as upholstery material on sofas and chairs. It's a pretty hefty fabric with that coarse canvas-like backing... looks to be pretty heavy duty.
  11. This is the stuff I use for all my upholstered seats. Don't know what it's called, I just saw it at the store and knew that it would work. The face of it is some sort of fairly stretchy vinyl with a grain that makes terrific 1/8 scale "leather." It's fused to a thin (1/16 inch?) black fabric backing that's sort of "cushy." However, I always pull the backing off and use only the surface vinyl "skin" of the material... And this the "carpet." It's a velour (is that the right word?) type of fabric that looks just like 1/8 scale carpeting. The store just happened to have the exact right color I wanted for my Rolls interior. The photo came out a bit bright, the real stuff is a darker maroon, but that's irrelevant to your question... http://s82.photobucket.com/user/harrypri/media/Rolls%20Royce/carpet_zps1f951071.jpg.html'> I didn't bind the edges by sewing... but by running a thin bead of white glue along the edges.
  12. That hurts just reading about it...
  13. Beautiful! That was a lot of very tedious work, but the end result is worth it.
  14. The one by me sells foil, but not the Bare Metal brand.
  15. Per Cato's request to keep all the Sedanca-related stuff in this thread... my scratchbuiult Sedanca seats. I used the basic kit seat shells (highly modified, though), created cushions with real foam padding, covered them with a faux-leather material I found at Hobby Lobby that looks perfect for 1/8 scale "leather." The piping is made of a soft rubber "string" that I found in the HL jewelry making aisle... I believe it's meant for stringing beads, but also makes perfect 1/8 scale seat piping. I painted the upholstery a medium gray with acrylic craft paint... it has a subtle sheen to it that looks amazingly like leather. All wood trim is basswood, stained and varnished. The carpeting on the scuff pad areas of the front seats is also material I found at HL and looks amazingly like 1/8 scale carpet. I also carpeted the car's floor with it, and will also do the lower portions of the interior door panels with it. BTW... the rear seat armrests are still to be done... will carve them of basswood and stain/varnish to match the other wood trim.
  16. Either buy aluminum strip already in the correct width and then just trim the individual leaves to length... Or use styrene strip instead. Much easier.
  17. Another 4 inches due today. On top of the 2-4 inches we got the other day. Snowing as I type this. It's March 5... I wonder if they'll have to plow the field when the Sox and Cubs play their home openers?
  18. Check the Big Boyz section. There's a Brassapalooza going on there.
  19. Great work, Nick. I love it. And the bike in back is a perfect finishing touch. Well done!
  20. Yep, I was out this morning shoveling. Again. On March 4th. Sheesh... And we still have a couple of feet of snow on the ground! Not much has melted away, it's been so cold here.
  21. Great story!
  22. Absolutely beautiful.
  23. The biggest mistake people make is when they do the panel lines in black. Not good, and very "model" looking. In real life, the metal between the panel lines is all painted body color, but because of the recess, the gaps are in shadow. Shadows are never 100% black (except on the moon or planets that have no atmosphere). Marcos' technique is the best way I have seen to do panel lines that look realistic and not "model-ly." Do not use black to do your panel lines, it looks bad.
  24. Cinnamon frosting? Mmmmmmmmm....
  25. A real piece of history you have there. Very cool.
