I really don't understand how those cars back then could do that! Two wheel drive, skinny little tires with no grip... yet they could go where a modern 4x4 would have trouble keeping up with them. Why is that??? How is is that a "low tech," simple as an anvil car back 100 years ago could outperform a modern vehicle?

And most of the time, aid to the U.S. from other countries isn't given much press in the U.S. media, for some reason.

It's a model kit while it's still a bunch of unassembled parts in the box. Once it's assembled, it's not a kit any more. It's a model.

Opening post: First, how many model kits do you own? How many builds did you complete last year? Calculate build percentage. If I owned 100 unbuilt kits, and I built 25 last year, my completion percentage would be 25% of the kits I owned (25 out of 100 owned). If I owned 500 kits, and completed 50 of them, my completion percentage would be 10% (50 out of 500). There is no way you can build more than 100% of the kits that you own. No matter how many kits you own, it's impossible to build more than that. Building every kit you own would mean your build percentage is 100%. You can't build 110% of the kits you own, because you only own 100% of the kits you own! You can't possibly own (or build) more kits than you have!

Ok, perfesser. You win! But whenever I hear a model called a "build" it still grates on me.

Here is the bottom ladder with all the bells and whistles attached:

noun 9. the physical structure, especially of a person; physique; figure:He had a strong build. 10. the manner or form of construction: The house was of modern build. 11. Computers. a. a version of a program after compilation, typically an update to an existing version made before the program is released. b. the process of producing a software build. c. a new version or update of data in a database or on a website: frequent, incremental builds of data. 12. Masonry. a. a vertical joint. b. the vertical dimension of a stone laid on its bed. No mention of model cars as "builds."

So if you're so accommodating of using a verb as a noun, you apparently have a pretty laid-back attitude regarding gramar and usage, right? So why does the word "repop" bother you?

It's not a debate. It's a fact. If you build every kiy you have, then you've built 100% of them. You can't build 110% of them, because you can't build more than you have!

I'd prefer "model." This is my model of a 1957 whatever... not this is my build of a 1957 whatever. It's a model. It's not a "build." Build is a verb, not a noun. I build models. I don't build builds.

And on a related point, calling a model a "build." Like nails on a chalkboard.

Plastic or resin, makes no difference. You can hinge doors the same way in either case.
