  1. I agree. This topic seems to have gone off track a bit.
  2. Not a fan of the jet black panel lines, they look too "obvious." And because on most models they're out of scale (too big), making them black like that makes them even more obvious. Look at a real car and you'll see that they're never black like that, but several shades darker than the body color (unless it's a black car, of course!). Here's a real one, similar to your model. Compare how the panel lines look on the real car vs. your model:
  3. Tell me about it. I should never have sold that van Gogh at last year's garage sale...
  4. Did you guys miss that awesome "power bulge" on the hood?
  5. Remember... do not post any hints or answers here! PM me with specific year, make and model. The answer: 1960s Autocar Carmel
  6. Bare Metal Foil is used to replicate chrome (or stainless steel) trim. Window surrounds, chrome side trim, emblems, etc. Like the side spear on this model that runs from the radiator shell to the rear fender. It was molded as part of the body. I used Bare Metal Foil on it. Same thing here... the "chrome" side trim was molded onto the body parts. I foiled it to look like "chrome" trim. Also the rub strips on the running boards: Same on this Ford. All the side trim, the strip across the trunk, even the fender skirts and lower fender trim... all foiled.
  7. Johnny Law sez wipers on, headlights on...
  8. Measure what? A real one? Go on the internet and download photos? The government controls the internet and heavily censors it. The guy didn't exactly have a lot of reference material to go by.
  9. Ok, be honest. Is that really your first model ever? Or your first car model?
  10. I don't think homemade cars count...
  11. But yours has a curved windshield. A little swoop. The Mercedes' windshield is 100% swoop-free! I think a 4x8 sheet of plywood would have better aerodynamics than that thing!
  12. At least it has the inside mirror!
  13. Of course, if there's too much swoop in your life, you can always go the other way...
  14. No headlights...no taillights...but it has windshield wipers? Also... yeah, I know it's a custom...but why all the extra squiggles in the exhaust system?
  15. Beautiful work as always, Alan! And it will be even better when you find those mirrors!
  16. Also Saoutchik (not sure on the spelling but I know there are a lot of vowels in there! )
  17. Ok, when you guys start quoting yourselves, it makes my head hurt...
  18. Rich, do you own stock in BMF? At the rate you use it, you should!
  19. Rich, you are the KING of the '50s! Another beauty from you. Keep 'em coming... we love this stuff!
  20. Dominik–very nice! Very crisp and clean. But to be accurate, you need to add the chrome trim strips to the trunk (and the door hinges should be chrome)... Remember... before you build, a google image search is your best friend.
  21. I'd love to see one of those as a 1/8 scale model kit. I'd pay some serious money for one if it existed.
  22. If you want to see some serious swoop, do a google image search for Delahaye...
  23. A strange (but cool) hybrid: http://www.carscoops.com/2010/05/bound-for-gotham-city-bugatti-and.html
