  1. But if it's your job to make the toys, shouldn't you make them right?
  2. I got a surprise in the mail today... a 1/18 scale diecast '74 Monaco Chicago cop car. Thank you to my anonymous benefactor whose name I won't mention but who knows who he is... Nice model, all four doors open, hood and trunk open, nicely detailed engine and chassis, steel wheels with dog dish caps, even a shotgun in a dash-mounted rack. What's not to like? But the slogan on the side of the car says "We Protect and Serve." The actual CPD slogan is "We Serve and Protect." Yeah, a minor detail for sure... but I have to wonder how stuff like this keeps happening? All it would take is a 30 second google image search, yet nobody bothered to make sure they got it right before they manufactured the model? We see silly mistakes like this slipping through to production constantly. Why???
  3. Classic CYA. Everyone does it.
  4. Nicely detailed for such a small scale.
  5. Ditto what Casey said. Haven't seen anything different from USPS lately. You have to remember, the USPS deals with millions of pieces of mail. It's to be expected that there would be a certain level of goof-ups in any organization as large as the USPS. Yours are most likely isolated instances, not an accurate representation of their service in general. And no, I don't work for the post office. Just want to be fair.
  6. BTW... as you creep up to your 10,000th post, we'll have to have some sort of appropriate acknowledgement of that illustrious occasion. Hmmm, what to do, what to do...
  7. Blasphemer! Heretic! Madman! Oh wait, you already knew you were a madman...
  8. But that's a good thing, as Martha Stewart would say! Well, to me it is, at least. I like the current retro styling and would hate to see a new Mustang that looks completely un-Mustangish. To me, that green rendering has the perfect blend of new styling and "heritage" design cues.
  9. That's a great idea! And I'm pretty sure someone at Ford has already thought of it.
  10. Now that I can see as the next Mustang! (minus that weird little curved crease just ahead of the front wheelwell.
  11. Wait a sec. Are you saying that some stuff on the internet isn't true?
  12. The car in the photo (or is it a rendering?) is a Brazilian 1978 Chevy Opala SS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:1978_Chevrolet_Opala_Deluxe_4dr.jpg Who got it right: Lovefordgalaxie Chris R patami Corvair Jim G Holding Foxer otherunicorn Badluck 13 wisdonm W-409 mr chips guybrush Johnny customsrus Lunajammer carsntrucks4you JS23U george53 matthijgrit
  13. I've used Bare Metal Foil for many years. Never cleared over it, and NEVER had any instance of the foil "letting go," even on models that I foiled literally decades ago. Never, ever. The idea that BMF "lets go" is a myth. It doesn't happen. You can clear over the foil if it makes you happy, and no harm done... but there's no actual reason to do so.
  14. DM does pretty much all of them very nicely. I hope they can recover from the loss of their Chinese supplier and restart their diecast model car production.
  15. That looks good, man!
  16. You think that's a high price for a kit? Have you bid on a Pocher Rolls Royce or Bugatti lately?
  17. Welcome aboard, John. And BTW...doesn't "Martin" deserve a capital "M?"
  18. Right answer or wrong, what counts is you're having fun and enjoying the game. And I can tell from your PMs that you're having fun... and that's what counts! Thanks for being a part of it, John.
  19. Who approved the design is irrelevant. I'm commenting on the final product, regardless of who had what part in it. And to my eye the before looks much better than the after. Just my opinion as a professional designer (and yes, my college degree is in product design/industrial design).
  20. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but to my eye the "before" looks way better than the "after." The weird angle on the roof/window openings on the "after" are very awkward and clash with the overall lines of the car.
