  1. Your first step should be to realize that there's only one "L" in modeling.
  2. Wait a minute... you worked on this until four in the morning??? Dude, you are sick!
  3. Why was it sitting for 6-7 years?
  4. Just to illustrate how silly your comment is... Every car my dad ever owned, except for his very first car (a Ford Falcon) and his very last car before he died (a Ford Taurus) was a Chrysler product. Either a Dodge or a Plymouth (never an actual "Chrysler" model). That includes lots of Dodges and Plymouths. My very first car was my dad's '67 Belvedere, which he gave to me when he bought a new Dodge. When I got that Belvedere it was 10 years old and had 100,000 miles on it. I drove it for another trouble-free 20,000 miles before I sold it (and it was still going strong when I sold it). That car was as solid as a rock and as reliable as the sun coming up every morning.
  5. Ok... maybe you have some sort of personal bias against Chrysler, who knows... but to say that any Chrysler product ever is the worst car is just plain ridiculous. I doubt very much that you have personally driven every Chrysler product ever made and are in any position to hand down a verdict on every Chrysler product ever made. That sort of comment can't possibly be taken seriously by anyone.
  6. Very nicely done! But how in the world did you make the small one? You must have used a microscope!
  7. ok.... so after you redo the Hotwheels cars, you package them and sell them?
  8. You guys are too good at this! Final vote: 8 REAL, 56 MODEL. I'd say that's a pretty definitive vote. And you're right... it's a model!
  9. That's cool! Any plans to add it to a scene?
  10. The definition of "hybrid vehicle" has nothing to do with whether or not the gas engine powers the drive wheels. A hybrid vehicle is defined as a vehicle that used two (or more) different sources of power to move the vehicle in one of several configurations. The Volt is a series hybrid, which means the gas engine is not used to physically move the car, but to run a generator that produces the electricity for the electric motor that propels the car.
  11. You can get around any anti-saving measures by just taking a screen shot of the image you want.
  12. What's better than ebay? What other onlne site has the selection, the exposure? Answer: none. They are what they are, fees and all. If you want to buy or sell something, there's no better way to do it, IMO. Yeah, you can go through craigslist or others... but as far as global reach, volume, selection.... there's nobody doing it better than ebay.
  13. Exactly. It's all about style, not substance.
  14. Right. Just like a regular car can. So what exactly is the point of a $40,000 hybrid that has a 30 mile range before it reverts to the old-fashioned internal combustion engine?
  15. I'll give you points for posting it, warts and all.
  16. That's right. Many people who drive a hybrid want the rest of the world to know that they drive a hybrid, so their "good deed" gets noticed. It's more about "being green" as a lifestyle statement than it is about actually making a difference. And the other type of hybrid drivers are the "early adopters," people who are always the first to embrace any new technology. They are the ones who camp out for days so they can be the first to have the latest phone or ipad, etc. For them the important thing isn't the technology per se... but being the first on the block to actually have the newest gadget or gizmo. Between the "statement" people and the "early adopter" types, they probably account for the vast majority of hybrid buyers.
  17. The answer: MODEL!
  18. Or... spray a flat color from a distance. In this case you want "orange peel," and spraying from a distance will give it to you... and it looks pretty much like vinyl top texture in scale. Flat paints seem to create better orange peel texture than gloss paints do. It doesn't matter what color flat you spray. If you don't have the right color flat paint that you want for the final top, use anything... even gray primer. Then just add your final color coat over your "texture coat." This method is much easier than any masking tape method.
  19. I don't think there's any way to successfully mask off everything and paint the stripes that way. It would be a huge hassle. The thin striping tape would be the easiest way to go. I know they sell two types of tape, regular (for straight lines) and the crepe type that I linked to (for radiuses and bends). My only question is how tight of a radius you can get? As in the front ends of the front fenders. Another way to go would be to use the regular striping tape and do all the straight lines, then fill in the radiuses with paint, a sharp brush and a steady hand. But that's asking for trouble... and I don't know how steady Geoff's hand is! Another alternative I thought of was to draw the striping on with a Sharpie... but again, that's just a disaster waiting to happen, because you get one shot to get it right. Once the red line goes down, there's no removing it without messing up the paint.
  20. We don't delete threads after a year as far as I know. Just do what Deron says and whenever you see something you want to keep, just save it to your own computer.
  21. http://www.amazon.com/Graphic-Red-Crepe-16-648/dp/B000CCNTO0/ref=sr_1_6?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1350856222&sr=1-6&keywords=crepe+chart+tape+1%2F16
  22. Can we keep this on topic this time? Last time I had to delete the whole thread because you people were so busy having a schoolyard smackdown that the whole point of the thread was being hijacked. Dave PM'd me and asked me my advice. I told him to go ahead and repost the same question, and I would keep an eye on things. So far I've already had to delete the three replies posted. Dave is asking a specific question regarding a specific product... this isn't a generic 3D printing thread. Let's stick to answering the actual question and not rambling all over the place on all sorts of stuff that doesn't have anything to do with the question being asked. If you do not have any first-hand experience with the product in question, there's really no reason to reply to the question, right?
  23. Looks like a rat rod to me. But like Bill said, "your definition may vary." We've gone through the "What is a rat rod?" thing here before. Same with the "What is a muscle car?" thing. And we all know the answer to both: there is no one single answer that everyone agrees on. Never was, never will be.
