  1. How about it? Real or model? The answer: MODEL!
  2. Ok. You pass!
  3. Yes, Pocher. It was sprayed with a can (don't remember the brand of paint... but I remember I used one brand on the body and another brand on the fenders. Definitely not a "model" paint, I do remember that), then airbrushed with Future. That's it.
  4. So then we can begin the bashing?
  5. Are those wipers photoetched?
  6. No, it doesn't have magic powers, it won't fix a lousy paint job, it can't cook you dinner and it won't keep you company on a cold winter night. It's nothing more than clear acrylic, plain and simple. Nothing more, nothing less. It's just one of many choices out there for a clear.
  7. "Parts" isn't a specific amount, it's a unit of ratio. As in two parts paint to one part thinner. Nobody knows how much paint (or whatever) you want to mix, so they give you the ratio, for example, 2 to 1. You provide the measurement according to how much paint you want to mix, but you keep the ratio at 2:1 (2 parts paint to 1 part thinner... or whatever the ratio may be). So whether you want to mix just a little (2 ounces paint to 1 ounce thinner) or a lot (2 quarts paint to 1 quart thinner), the measured amount may change, but the ratio does not, it always stays the same: 2 parts paint to 1 part thinner. And you don't need to thin Future, it's ready to spray as is.
  8. The stuff I use is called "Dura-Lar," made by Grafix. It's technically not acetate, they call it the "acetate alternative," it's archival quality, will not yellow, is dimensionally stable. It comes in 9x12 pads, 25 sheets per pad, in three different thicknesses (.003, .004, .005). I bought mine at Hobby Lobby, but I also found this link: http://www.colinharbut.com/art/Dura-Lar-Clear-Acetate-Alternative/drafting-architecture/acetate/
  9. Didn't you also make a pretty good buck by selling Mr. Douglas all sorts of worthless junk?
  10. Looks pretty good to me, too. But I'd paint the "BUICK" lettering silver (using a small brush and a big magnifier!).
  11. You are so right! Yesterday it was 80 and humid, very warm and muggy. I had to turn on the AC in my car (because it was raining and I couldn't open the window). Today I have the furnace going. Sheesh...
  12. There's a joke in there somewhere, but I can't quite figure it out...
  13. Don't know. But eventually I'll get to the point where I say enough's enough and leave this state forever.
  14. Yesterday it was 80. Today it's in the 40s. Typical weather around here!
  15. Ok, I have to ask. What are broccoli rings? And why did they need to be stacked? At night?
  16. So basically... incompetence.

No matter how often I see this kit built up, it always looks fresh and cool! Nice job!
  19. Graphic designer, illustrator, writer, art director... I am... the most interesting man in the world. Stay thirsty, my friends!
  20. I have a feeling your fix didn't work because you were trying to glue painted surfaces together.
  21. There was no money for the dealer to "get back." The guy paid the amount listed on the bill of sale. The dealership charged him too little. The dealership screwed up, the buyer wasn't conning them. He paid the amount that was listed on the contract, then after the sale, the dealer wanted him to come back and pay more than they had sold it for, because they realized that they had messed up the numbers. Not the buyer's fault. And no justification for the dealer then claiming the guy stole the car and having him arrested.
  22. Skip... Art's talking about those boxes that had a lid that was actually hinged to the box along the side. That sort of "all in one" box was not very popular with some modelers (don't really get why)... but for some reason some people really got PO'd with those boxes.
  23. Exactly. He paid the amount listed on the bill of sale. What person in their right mind would then voluntarily go back and pay the dealer more, just because the dealer messed up the numbers? And then the dealership has the nerve to call the cops and have the guy arrested for stealing the car?!!! I agree, suing for $2 million is way out of line, but he should get something from the dealership. If it was me I'd settle for a lifetime, bumper-to-bumper, no exceptions, no exclusions warranty on the car. That seems like fair reimbursement.
