  1. This and the new double-decker bus kit would make a nice "London" diorama display.
  2. What the heck does "woot" mean?
  3. I wonder how the deal between Moebius and RoG came about. Just curious...
  4. They're made for real cars. Obviously they're good!
  5. Are you looking for information on the kit or photos of finished models?
  6. Nicely done, good detailing all around. But... he's a bit shiny. I say give him a shot of Dullcote. There should be absolutely no gloss whatsoever on him. In your photos I can see that his bandana is especially shiny... that needs to be flattened. Once you give him a shot of dull, go back with some clear gloss and a fine brush and paint each cartridge in the bandoliers. Yeah, a bit of work, but the end result will be fantastic, I guarantee you!
  7. Wow! This one is even cooler than the white one you just posted. Very nice work!
  8. That turned out great! That's one of the cool things about diecasts... there are a lot of subjects available as diecasts that are not (and probably never will be) available as a styrene kit.
  9. Are they anything like Redneck math??? 1. Calculate the smallest limb diameter on a persimmon tree that will support a 10 pound possum. 2. Which of these cars will rust out the quickest when placed on blocks in your front yard? A: '65 Ford Fairlane, B: '69 Chevrolet Chevelle, or C: '64 Pontiac GTO. 3. If your uncle builds a still which operates at a capacity of 20 gallons of shine per hour, how many car radiators are required to condense the product? 4. A woodcutter has a chainsaw which operates at 2700 RPM. The density of the pine trees in the plot to be harvested is 470 per acre. The plot is 23 acres in size. The average tree diameter is 14 inches. How many Budweisers will be drunk before the trees are cut down? 5. If every old refrigerator out on the front porch in the entire state vented a charge of R-12 simultaneously, what would be the percentage decrease in the ozone layer? 6. A front porch is constructed of 2x8 pine on 24-inch centers with a field rock foundation. The span is 8 feet and the porch length is 16 feet. The porch floor is 1-inch rough sawn pine. When the porch collapses, how many hound dogs will be killed? 7. A man in Tennessee owns a house and 3.7 acres of land in a hollow with an average slope of 15%. The man has five children. Can each of his grown children place a mobile home on the man's land and still have enough property for their electric appliances to sit out front? 8. A 2-ton truck is overloaded and proceeding 900 yards down a steep slope on a secondary road at 45 MPH. The brakes fail. Given average traffic conditions on secondary roads, what is the probability that it will strike a vehicle with a muffler? 9. A coal mine operates a NFPA Class 1, Division 2 Hazardous Area. The mine employs 120 miners per shift. A gas warning is issued at the beginning of the 3rd shift. How many cartons of unfiltered Camels will be smoked during that shift? 10. At a reduction in the gene pool variability rate of 7.5% per generation, how long will it take a town which has been bypassed by the Interstate to breed a country-western singer?
  10. Go to a home improvement store like Home Depot and check out the "For Sale" and "Beware of Dog" and "No Trespassing" type signs. Many times they're made of plastic and can be a great source of cheap sheet styrene (if the thickness works for you). I once had an Alpo sign from an old supermarket display... that one sign kept me supplied with sheet styrene for many years.
  11. Some contests have a "Modified Diecast" category. But that can create its own set of problems. The model we've seen here is obviously a modified diecast... but so is one where only the wheels/tires have been swapped out. But pitting those two against each other in a contest is unfair. So the answer is... different classes for different degrees of modification?
  12. I agree... the judges obviously thought your model came that way from the factory and didn't have a clue as to how much work was actually put into it. But on a related note, I still read posts from some people who insist that a diecast model is not a model. I'll never understand that attitude. Yes, a factory-assembled diecast model that you buy as a finished product is not a modek kit.... but it's obviously a model. And like Mark said, modifying and customizing diecast models is every bit as much "real" modeling as doing the same with a plastic kit. The material the pieces are made of don't define the "legitimacy" of the model.
  13. Oops! Yep, you're right, my mistake. Back to "On the Workbench!" Sorry 'bout that!
  14. I don't think asking to see finished builds belongs in "On the Workbench"... So I'm moving this to where you should have posted it in the first place.
  15. Jairus, you are truly a master craftsman in brass. That chassis is art!
  16. You guys are killing it! Fantastic work! I see a future magazine feature here...
  17. I agree... nice job! It looks great.
  18. Nice job, Nick! I like the "old school" look of it.
  19. Can you spare a kidney? Bwa ha ha ha ha ha..........
  20. Looks to me like your post worked big time! Welcome aboard!
  21. Come on over to the dark side... Once you come over, you'll wonder why you waited so long!
  22. Fan mail! Hey, BC... are you listening?
  23. Hmmm.... I forgot about that. Well, you're closing yourself off from the world's largest hobby shop with the biggest selection, open 24/7/365. And they deliver to your door! I guess you could always order over the phone, though.
