  1. Nice! Not sure about a "root beer" colored Cobra, though. But then again, I used pretty much the same color on a Jaguar... I guess we're both crazy!
  2. Hey Greg... looks like you've finally solved your photo posting problems!
  3. I think we need that law here in the US. I see no point in people being kept alive artificially. What kind of "life" is it when you are hooked up to a bunch of machines and spend your life laying in bed suffering, and racking up huge medical bills?
  4. This forum software is "leased" by us. This same software is used by many other online forums. It's owned by Invision Power Services, Inc. We didn't write the code or create the software, so we can't "fix" any glitches in the software. We didn't create it, don't own it, and can't change it.
  5. Sorry to hear about your friend. Don't know how bad his COPD was, but sometimes, depending on the level of pain and suffering, passing away is actually better than hanging on to a lousy quality of life.
  6. Kinda hard to tell, because all the photos are so blurry... but from what I can see, it looks pretty good to me (except those way too big "Goodyear" logos on the tires). I'd suggest you take them off. The model would look better without them.
  7. Actually they're basswood and very thin plywood, not balsa.
  8. Nice custom work. But I have to admit I don't get the point of that "inner hood."
  9. In the past? Heck, I still do!
  10. Every generation thinks that their generation was the best. It's just human nature.
  11. Yep, they "borrowed" heavily from other artists. Quite a few "Zeppelin" songs were direct ripoffs, others more of a "rearrangement." But still, they stole a lot from others, and never gave credit to the source.
  12. They never credited Jake Holmes for "Dazed and Confused."
  13. Not our job to make kids "aware" of anything. Every generation has to make those decisions on their own. I have three kids, all adults now. They all have their own interests. They were perfectly capable of making their own decisions... as was I.
  14. So why do you bother with Facebook?
  15. It's not up to us to "guide" today's kids into choosing a particular hobby, any more than it was our parents' job to select our hobbies for us when we were kids. Today's kids should be free to choose their own hobbies, regardless of what us "older guys" think they should be interested in.
  16. You have to let the kids pick their own hobbies.
  17. I agree. It's blatantly obvious. And I'm speaking as a huge Zep fan! But I have to admit the obvious... they stole a "whole lotta music" from others and never gave credit. Exhibit A, your Honor. They didn't even bother to change the title!
  18. Trial scheduled in May regarding the claim that Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" intro is a ripoff of the Spirit song "Taurus." Wow. Forty years later, and they're going to court? I know LZ is well known for, um... heavily "borrowing" from others and not giving credit. This isn't the first time they've been in a legal mess regarding stealing other people's music. But 40+ years after the fact?
  19. A nice article on 1960s diecast models... Matchbox, Hot Wheels, Johnny Lightning, etc.
  20. "Pre-made" Pinewood Derby cars? How is that allowed? That completely subverts the whole point of the thing. That's like entering a store-bought Sara Lee pie in a pie baking contest.
  21. I saw a Hot Wheels Camaro on ebay today going for $2,500.
  22. Impressive. Beautiful model, well done!
  23. Thanks, Cliff...
  24. Same here. Aside from this site, I couldn't care less about "social media" stuff like Facebook, Twitter, etc. I have absolutely no interest in that sort of thing.
  25. Yep, this hobby is mostly comprised of older guys. Used to be that building model cars was very much a kid's hobby. Back in the late '50s and the '60s, many model kits were marketed specifically to kids. Remember all of the Tom Daniel kits, and the Deal's Wheels stuff, things like that? Obviously meant for kids, and kids were in fact the largest part of the hobby. Most of the adults in the hobby today are those kids from the '60s, who either took a break for girls, marriage, kids, etc. and came back to the hobby many years later, or some who continued building straight through. The hobby just doesn't excite today's kids the way it did kids back in the '60s. Part of it may be the fact that today's kids have a much wider variety of things to do to keep themselves occupied... things that didn't exist in the '60s, like the internet, video games, social media, smart phones, etc. I'm not sure if the hobby is growing, overall... or shrinking. But one thing's for sure... it's aging.
