  1. What I'm saying is, there's no need to post model-related stuff in the "General" section at all because there are already specific categories to accomodate any model-related posts. Let's leave the "General" area to "general" topics, then we'll all know what's where, and depending on our own personal tastes, which area to avoid (or check out! ) What specific model-related topic wouldn't fit into one of the specific forum areas? None that I can think of. We already have a display area, an in-progress area, a kit review area, a place for trading, a "wanted" section, etc. What possible model car-related topic can you think of that wouldn't fit somewhere on the forum besides the "general" area?
  2. I don't think there's any modeling topic that can't fit comfortably into one of the sub-sections of the forum... there's a place for virtually everything... so the "General" forum is for "general" topics, IMO. Yeah, it was decided that the blatantly political and/or religious posts had no place here... I think we all pretty much agree on that. And that sort of posting has virtually disappeared here. But personally, I like the kind of "off topic" stuff like the current thread about vintage bicycles and things like that. Sure, it's not exactly model-car related, but I find it interesting and entertaining. My opinion: It's a better forum if we include a little off-topic content in a designated area (the General section) than if we were to be strict and not allow any topics that are not 100% model car (like the infamous "other" forum that so many of us left because of the overbearing admin style). This way we keep the people who like a little non-model car stuff happy, while shielding those like yourself who don't want anything other than 100% model cars 100% of the time. If you don't want anything off-topic, you just don't go into the "General" area. Simple. As long as we keep the off-topic stuff confined to a well-defined are, I don't see how anyone who doesn't like the off topic stuff can complain. Just don't go there! And as long as we behave ourselves and not post anything truly offensive, we'll all be happy. Sure makes sense to me.
  3. Isn't "General" already pretty self-explanatory? "General" topics. I don't see any reason to divide "General" into "General Model Stuff" and "General General Stuff." If anyone doesn't want to read anything in this section, or is bothered by non-model specific topics, why are they looking through the "General" category in the first place??? It's like the people who watch sex and violence on TV all day and then complain about all the sex and violence they see on TV. If someone is offended by or uninterested in "general" stuff, the solution is very simple: don't read it!
  4. Gary, you're right. I measured, it's 25". I haven't ridden that bike in many years and was going off of old (and apparently faulty!) memory.
  5. I yam what I yam...
  6. I've built a few 1/16 Minicraft kits, they all seemed pretty good to me. I know that's no "review," but I didn't see any problems with any of them. Maybe you don't see many reviews because they're not that common?
  7. Effusive yet restrained... What I meant was, he was being loquacious while simultaneously being succinct. I thinct.
  8. It's funny how things go sometimes... I think we might have scared off the original poster!
  9. And now for something completely different...
  10. My, my... aren't we being persnickety!
  11. Wow, that looks great already, and it's not even finished! Very cool...
  12. Mark, your effusive yet restrained missive is both eloquent and perspicacious.
  13. I wouldn't want to try and go uphill in that...
  14. It goes around curves and molded-in details like scripts, door handles, trim, etc. and it sticks (at least the "new and improved" stuff sticks!).
  15. Final vote: 23 REAL, 49 MODEL. I thought I'd get you with this one, but you guys win... it's a model! 1/18 diecast. Next ROM coming MONDAY!
  16. That's an old idea...
  17. I like it! The windshield frame looks a little out of scale, kind of thick and chunky... but that's just my opinion. Looks cool, I like the color!
  18. He was asking about putting aluminum and steel wool under water to make the steel wool rust, and would the rust then stick to the aluminum? That's not accurate, because the rust that forms on steel wool is iron oxide, which is reddish brown. Aluminum would never have reddish brown "rust" on it, which is why I told him that aluminum doesn't "rust" that way.
  19. Uh, just so you know... aluminum doesn't rust.
  20. You're lucky she didn't dump you after Pink Flamingos!!! 25 years? Congrats, man. You done good!
  21. I agree with Marcos... get those pics in focus! Looks cool, but why no radiator? You wouldn't get very far without it. And if no radiator... what's up with the fan??? And you might also want to think about an exhaust system...
  22. If that's all you have so far, it's kind of early in the process to be asking for feedback, isn't it?
  23. That took more Photoshop work than you realize!!!
