  1. I don't always read model car magazines... but when I do, I prefer Model Cars Magazine...
  2. That is ugly... BIG TIME!
  3. I want a 1/8 Superbird or Daytona, Pocher-lever detail. I can wait a few days...
  4. Holy cow! That's beee-yoo-tiful! Fantastic looking truck, you can sure be proud of that one! I hope you don't mind... but I'm posting the photo here so people don't have to follow the link to see it.
  5. The doors wound up fitting pretty well. Not perfect, but better than I thought they would. The whitewalls are painted on with acrylic paint, the black ring on the knockoff is painted on, too. The Mercedes emblem is kit-supplied.
  6. You make several good points. I confess, when it comes to policing the forum I have a bit of a laid-back attitude... sort of "live and let live." And I realize that sometimes I may have been TOO laid back and let some things slide that, while they don't bother me personally, I should have realized may bother other members–or just be inappropriate for this forum in general. My bad, as they say. It's always a judgement call as to what to leave alone and what to clamp down on. My personal style is to moderate as little as possible. I really hate to be coming down on people and to lock/delete stuff unless it's really way out of line. But I do respond to people when they PM me... I always check out what their complaint is, and I do take action if I think there's a real problem. The fact that Pat is also now moderating is a good thing, as it's always good to have another pair of eyes keeping tabs on what goes on here. I can't be here 24/7 and neither can Pat... but between the two of us we can be here at least for a good part of the time. I guess the bottom line is, we moderate this place to the best of our ability. You guys have to realize that we don't have super powers... and the decision whether to "moderate" a given post is always subjective. It's not a science, it's a matter of opinion.
  7. Superb! Detail is over-the-top excellent, and as usual, your photos are perfect. Very cool all around!
  8. Sure is good to have you back. Glad to know you're A-ok and back to building. We missed you around here. I think it's high time that ###### Cranky makes another appearance in the magazine...
  9. Ahhh, there's nothing like a classic from the days when cars were real works of art. Nice job on a very beautiful old Caddy.
  10. Welcome! I used to do custom airbrush illustrations for Dean Guitars. I have a couple of Dean Z's that Dean himself gave me... I can't play, but they sure do look cool!!!
  11. Looks great, I like the wheels. Pretty cool...
  12. Did you see Donnie or Marie???
  13. For the record, the photos I use here are as I find them, with one caveat: If the background would give things away, I'll Photoshop the background. For example, if a model is photographed on a driveway, the scale of the asphalt compared to the model would obviously give away the fact that it was a model... so I'll change the background by blurring or somehow altering the texture of the driveway. But I don't mess with the car itself... if the photo shows a car on a generic "photo sweep" type background, like in this case, I'll use the photo as is. Was the photo I used this time retouched? Maybe... but not by me.
  14. Cranky, I have just 2 things to say: 1. Too cool!!! 2. WHERE THE HECK HAVE YOU BEEN???
  15. Pat's right–EVERY feature is edited, some more than others, but they all are. More important than writing style is GOOD photos. We can rewrite bad text; we can't reshoot bad photos! And there's only so much I can do with Photoshop.
  16. Seems to me that most people's complaint about "the other place" was always that it was moderated too strictly, and posts were locked and deleted too often. How often did we hear comments about "the sheriff" or "the forum nazi" or some other such slam aimed at J.H.? So we gave you guys a freer, more open forum here, with less moderation, fewer locked topics... then you complain about that too? Seems like there's no way to please some people. And I don't mean you specifically... I'm talking about all the people who seem to want it both ways... tight moderating AND an open forum. How do you figure that's possible?
  17. What do you mean by that?
  18. Actually it looks more model than real to me. If I was guessing, I would have guessed "model."
  19. Charlie, let me know if you contact him. There is definitely a nice magazine feature there.
  20. Does anyone in the club know this guy or know how to contact him?
  21. Just remember... a product is worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay for it.
  22. Final vote: 49 REAL, 20 MODEL. You got it! It's REAL! Next ROM coming MONDAY!
  23. Actually that's Chuck Wagon, and he's sitting between Jim Shorts on his left and Tom E. Gunn on his right...
  24. Peterborough? So yer a Canuck, eh?
  25. Keeping an eye on khart alone is a full time job...
