  1. You sure about that???
  2. We try to make every issue as interesting to as wide an audience as possible. Obviously, you can't please everyone, but it's always nice to hear that a given issue was well received. On the "waiting" part... I know the long history MCM has of arriving "whenever" instead of on time. That's a huge problem and one that I've been working on as best as I can to get resolved. We were back on track, but then Gregg suddenly had some medical issues, he couldn't devote enough time to the magazine, and we fell back again. That's not to make an excuse, it's just to let you guys know what happened. Gregg is up and around again, and we hope to be back on schedule with the Contest Issue. But keep this in mind: even though the magazine doesn't arrive exactly "on schedule," you still are getting a new magazine once a month. Again. no excuses... but when all is said and done you're still getting every issue. We just have to get it back on schedule.
  3. You guys who buy it at the LHS (that is, when it's actually there for sale) should subscribe! Comes right to your door, and a subscription is actually much cheaper per issue than buying it retail one issue at a time. So not only would you have the convenience of getting the magazine delivered, you'd also be paying LESS for it! Is that a great deal or what???
  4. The weathering looks really good. If it was me, I'd add some sort of township or village markings on the doors, to make it look like a municipal vehicle. I doubt a private contractor would be running a rig that size!
  5. Really REALLY nice! I love the color, it's not your typical "hot rod" color. And like the guys say, the wheels and wide whites are absolutely perfect. This is what it's all about, folks... taking a very common car and making it your own. Great stuff! Oh... and your photos are great too!
  6. Pretty good work for a "novice" if you ask me. Extra credit to you for making someone's day with this... nice move!
  7. Two minor points. First, it's '69... not 69' Second...why in the world is the washer bottle yellow??? Did you get mixed up and fill it with antifreeze???
  8. Easiest way to straighten this out is to simply call them and talk to a customer rep. They'll walk you through and re-establish your account.
  9. It's a Pocher miracle!!! I have nothing but good news this time (sorry... been too busy with my pesky clients to take new photos, but I will as soon as I get the chance. Also, I shouldn't call them pesky... as their work pays the bills!). First of all... the doors fit really well. Who'd a thunk it from how things looked a few days ago, but once everything is screwed together and the body parts are in their "final" configuration, everything fits surprisingly well. In fact, the door fit is so good that you might not ever notice any problem if I hadn't told you anything. And the tiny little latches actually do latch the doors closed! And the windows really crank up and down! Hallelujah!!! Also installed the fenders, and lo and behold, all the mounting screws lined up to the holes in the body and chassis! That tells me that I installed the body correctly in relation to the chassis. The fenders wrap around the lower edges of the grille shell tight as a drum... it looks really good. I also test fit the hood panels, and it looks like they will need some very minor shortening... which is a whole lot easier to do than lengthening them! All in all, things are looking up and the frustration level is greatly reduced these days...
  10. Is it real? Or a model? The answer: REAL!
  11. Collector value??? What's better... a "collectible" unbuilt kit in a box stored in a closet somewhere, or a nice model like this that you can display and say, "Yeah, I built that!" Invest in stocks. Build models.
  12. Wow!!! The detail is phenomenal! Where did you get all the stuff? If it's scratchbuilt, it's unbelievable. The detail on the compressor motor and everything else is amazing.
  13. Sort of a "good news, bad news" day... The good news is that the doors actually do fit fairly well... once I glued the hinges, the latches seem to pull everything into line when the doors are closed. Not perfect... not even close to perfect... but better than I initially thought it would be. More good news... despite the tiny pieces and sloppy tolerances, the door latches do work–at least for now. I have no idea what their "life cycle" is, but I'm not about to try and find out. I will be using the door handles as little as possible. The bad news is that there's a huge gap between the top of the door windows and the sides of the top. You can see the gap here, between the window glass and the convertible top arm. The glass in this photo is rolled up all the way... it doesn't go any higher. The problem is that the glass is just too small... it should have been taller and bigger front to back. Of course, now that I know this it's way too late to go back and do anything about it. The door hinges are epoxied into place, the inner door panels are epoxied to the door skins, and the window glass mechanism is permanently installed. There's no going back. Guess I won't be displaying this with the top up and the windows rolled up!
  14. No fair... Gregg only gave me one...
  15. I'm in... but I'm all alone!
  16. Where's the fishies???
  17. Wow... judging by his avatar I figured he was about 9 or so...
  18. And thanks to you guys for playing! I'm happy to do it... I think it makes our forum a little more fun. And unique. After all, how many other model car forums have it? Or for that matter, how many other forums would even allow it? Know what I mean?
  19. Then it's a browser problem. You're probably accessing the site with an old/outdated browser that can't display this site correctly. If you can't switch to a newer browser, then there's really no other fix.
  20. I'm pretty sure that the organizers have insurance to cover this sort of thing. All the rich guys will be paid, don't worry about it. And just think... with unemployment high as it is, this means a lot of work for restoration shops!
  21. It's actually pretty common for Pocher kits to sometimes have missing or wrong parts. After all, they were packed by humans, and there are a lot of parts trees in each box...and several dozen plastic bags of assorted hardware and misc. metal parts... so the occasional screw-up is to be expected, I guess. The worst part is, the company doesn't exist anymore, so you're on your own when it comes to solving problems. And "spare" parts are very hard to come by. It's sort of like restoring a rare old car. You can't just go to Pep Boys and buy a replacement fender...

  23. You guys voted 2-1 for REAL, 48 Real, 24 Model. You got it! It's REAL! (And real ugly too!) Next ROM coming MONDAY!
  24. Well, since he said they were N scale stairs from PLAStruct... I'm gonna guess plastic...
  25. Super glue will work, I do it all the time. Epoxy will work too. Rough up the surface of the metal and the plastic a bit so the glue will have something to latch onto.
