All of Revell's later F/C kits were the same deal...you are correct however...If you have any knowledge as to how a modern funny car chassis/engine is put together...it'll be a breeze even without the instructions. These kits were simple...the detailing is the trick!...Run whatcha' brung in this dept...the more you can add and the smoother the build via reference pics.all the better...the skies the limit with these kits... he-he..... You are also right in that a few of these kits can still be bought for a song...especially the less popular fuel cars. Both the TA and the Olds F/C are readily available at swap meets everywere as kindlin. Swap the decal out for a Slixx or other and build about any team you'd like of those bodies. Same goes for the digger...still tons out here to be had... Have fun... ChiliDog

Thank you for your time gentleman of ModelCars Mag! ......Concerning a reissued Model King Mongoo$e Duster F/C model kit... Gents of the 1`/16 modeling interest..There is possibly some confusion in our midst..This message is of repeated notice and has been stressed before.... The kit is in negotiations and is in heavy planning ONLY...NOTHING is set in stone...Yes... we feel there is a very good chance for a kit release in around a year...but there is a difference in a proposed release and a done deal....No finality had been stricken in any shape or form, Trust me my brothers Dave and I are working on your behalf... I'll let all the guys know the progress as I hear it come down the pipe....Anything else that does not come directly from me or Dave Burket are rumors and rumors only!......If you hear anything to the contrary please let me know the source and I will attempt to correct the falsehood...This is only an attempt to maintain unity in the quest to bring correct info to our 1/16 brotherhood and ensure smooth negotiations between all negotiating parties......Thank you. We are waiting on something from Revell and have been for a while now...hang tight on info...It'll be on this group page as I have it...and that's officially where it stands as of this minute. Thank You sincerely my dear friends Art "ChiliDog" Loveland -

Chris, I sorta went back and looked page by page at what youv'e done here bro...Man you are truely setting the bar for what these things should look like in 1/16...your attention to detail is top notch and I can appreciate your patience taking this build to the next level..If you're as sharp with detail painting as you are with fabrication to scale, this build will indeed be a work of art and a high mark of superior craftsmanship from start to finish. Most of us as experienced modelers need to take note of the steps taken in this project to practice our own workmanship, recognise Chris' mistakes and how he corrected them and visualize what measure is required to correct the kits. The tremendous amount of work required to make a replica of high standard is obvious. Long story/short, so far, this is one of the best 1/16 drag builds ever..period. And the way it is illustrated step by step is a complement to Chris' character in making sure we as the onlooking folks don't miss a thing. Art. -

Clean sharp builds!...Nice job bro.. Art -
I agree with Chris..either place you can buy fittings and braid but each also excel better at one or the other..RB motion fittings/ProTech braid..best of both...Art

Yes that is big indeed...and I'm sure it will affect all forms of drag race modeling...but I don't expect a huge trickle down deal in 1/16..1/16 was never a biggy for Slixx anyways...there's enough of us making decals out here to support the 1/16 hobby...Might even open more opportunities for the other vendors out here. Slixx does this one in 1/25 already Chris...Gene's got the word from Dave and I that we're gonna need this stuff in 1/16... Call him with your request...I'm sure he'll take it into consideration Chris,..others...show some interest in the aftermarket guys and speak your voice...that's how things get done..I'm sure persistence cannot hurt Art -

Chuck Boerner does the Ramchargers Duster (not the Demon, there were two) and The Ivo and Shady Glenn Dart Sport decal(s) that fit Greg Fox's exceptional Dart Sport...He also makes a '75 Revellution 'red' decal that fits Greg's corrected Duster body as Well as the Soapy Sales Dart...I can and probably will do a Brad Anderson decal and the '75 'red'Custom Body but they will be to fit Greg's body which is a pretty close match with a few mods. I've thought about doing Pete's 'lil Demon decal before and didn't have an Alps at the time...But that's gonna change shortly. I've also started Paula's Miss STP car but it's the red/white psycho paint scheme version. I'd do a Hindsight, but I don't know how many guys would stick their neck out there to build it...The Fred Goeske,McCulloch and the Super Duster burgandy car would be nice choices...dunno at this point...To my knowledge Slixx makes most of the others that tbush mentioned...I'm trying not to double up on what Slixx or Chuck is doing...Chuck and I are close friends..I have agreed to never do anything decalwise that would be in conflict with what he does. Dave and I have kinda put a bug in Gene's ear at Slixx to re-introduce some decals to fit the Duster 1/16 body should this kit be re-released. I'm probably going to render up and print a couple on the Alps as well...So we should have a few aftermarket decals available in short order thereafter....Does anyone here have any suggestions other than the Slixx Duster decals,.. that you'd like to see?...Chime in and let me know...I'll try and get approval and print some up... No doubt about it...Chuck's decals are currently the best 70's F/C and digger decals in the land....All vector...Colors are outstanding! Art "ChiliDog" Loveland

Michael...The term 'fire tent' has been used as a description of the entire interior tin (aluminum) barrier that sparates the drivers cockpit from the engine and surrounding elements under the funny car's fiberglass/or in later years carbon fiber shell. The critical components of the fire tent include the engine shroud which spreads the upper area of the engine under the windsheild, the firewall with its observation windows on each side so the driver can see a fire as it starts and the cockpit surround that protects the driver from the elements/smoke, debris and fire from below, to the sides and rear. The side debris panels on the chassisalso protect from fire and smoke, etc.. as well as the floor debris panel....Hope this helps....I know now of days most guys call it the interior tin,...which I suppose is ok too.....The fire tent also may have gussets and supports integrated for the body to attach to.... It's been al lot of fun working with these guys! I'm trying to kind of summize what is the best thing for us to do now that we know Revell is starting to move in making this happen. I guess what we really need to emphasize at this time is we really need to rally the guys to buy this stuff in the event we do get a release...Model King is in our corner! Dave has got a great deal of confidense in us that we are going to respond BIG whenand if this comes together. I don't think we really realize how huge it is to have him as a broker for these kits...It's not just about the money with Dave I assure you. He wants us to be a long term buyer of his releases and I've given him a great deal of hope our resin body aftermarket will help move the F/C's especially and detail parts for the top fuel dragster models if there is a second release in a couple years following a big response to the first kit the Mongoo$e F/C. So much of this depends on how well this first release doesif it flys well...I really believe Dave will bring out more kits..but like I said we have to respond and buy like we mean it....One takes care of the othe and vise versa....Have a good week gent... OK Guys! Good news...Ed Sexton at Revell just got back with me...and he applauds and respects our persistence...and so do I! Everyone here should be happy to know that Ed's desk is now flooded with requests to re-pop these kits...remember though...Model King is also working in another angle for the same purpose so our intense response and Model Kings negotiations is getting us somewhere! Please understand that NOTHING I repeat NOTHING is set in stone at this juncture. However our overwhelming flood of traffic that has gone directly to Ed's attention has sprung him into action concerning pushing this stuff forward...Ed's response to me is that a run with model King would potentially be 8 months to 1 year out...it's my gut feeling it is very likely...But what I wanted to happen has happened and is happening! And what has happened is we have woke Revell up! They're wide awake now and you know what?.....We did it together! Special notice at this time!!!...I think it would be a wise decision at this time to lighten up the calls, E-mails and letters to Revell..They've got the picture/point now for a while, so trust Dave, Jim and I to negotiate for a few months with Revell... Trust me I WILL NOT give up as long as I'm alive to get Revell to do this...I will continue to mediate to the best of my ability....I will keep you updated on what we have as we go along here folks. Can anyone tell I'm pumped...and YOU should be too... Art "ChiliDog" Loveland Chime in! I want to know whatcha' think! -
