  5. OK guys it's Chili again...I'm talking with Dave Burket today again to find out what happened and where he got with Mr.McEwen and Jim White....I have the go ahead from him to kind of be his voice in the E-groups both in racing/ circles, circle of aftermarket and forums like here....to drum up interest in this venture and tell the guys to spread it everywhere by word of mouth of his intent to take interest in working with Revell on a deal that would give him rights to sell these re-popped kits under the Model King label and distribution with Revell as mfg. on a limited run he would purchase at wholesale...Much will happen behind the scenes and I will keep you guys informed on issues that all parties involved feel comfortable in sharing with the public...some things involved in talks may not be available to us if Dave, JIm, Tom and Revell choose for this info not to be known at any given time, but I do know that so far everyone involved seem very positive and encouraged that a few thousand of these kits would move in a reasonable timeframe..... I can you this already: A. Model King would purchase a set amount of kits at wholesale(similar to the Jungle Jim and Hawaiian F/C deal that was done a few years back (w/ variances partaining to this particular set of negotiations with all parties involved). B. Revell and Model King would be in contact with Mr. McEwen to work out particulars pertaining to licencing ect... C. At this time, NO possible timelines have been set and a production number hasn't been set either...( however Dave at model King did indicate a negotiable amount starting at about 3000 kits), but nothing is set in stone.... D. Mr. McEwen and his rep. Jim White would love to see this done with Revell and/or Revell and Model King together. E. Dave at Model King is pumped as I am that we can complete together with very few snags a workable partnership with Revell and it's reps. ...he has had experience working with Revell on previous ventures and they worked out something in a very workable period of time between breaking ground and completing a complete deal. F. WE AS MODELERS WILL ULTIMATELY DETERMINE HOW SUCCESSFUL THIS VENTURE WILL BE BY SHOWING AN INTENT TO BUY THIS STUFF......our paricipation is extremely important! G. We want to know your input!!!!....(ie. what does the modeling public expect in a quality drag racing kit),..such as the look of the box, Do you want a McEewen collector card in or on the box?...little things like that. H. Dave himself is very interested in the aftermarket and whatever our thoughtts would be concerning how we can move more of these kits will be considered. I. I will be the direct voice between Dave and the aftermarket and groups/forums/ads with organizations,.. ect... I will do ALL I can to bridge the gap between the two. I will encourage the resin guys decal makers ect.. Your voice/thoughts/aspirations DO matter. Feel needed!!!! J. Dave has every intent to keep these kits AFFORDABLE so that folks can be able to own/build a kit straight out of the box or build a composite of aftermarket resin parts...ect.. K. I will keep updating this list as I have more info kind of bi-weekly as I have more... That's all I have at this juncture.....CHIME IN GUYS!!! Let's hear it! Do you want 1/16th??? Let's do this!!!.... Be assured that Dave and I will do our part to make this a striking success!!!!! Art 'Chilidog' Loveland and Dave Model King
  6. OK guys all these responses are just fantastic!....All you guys ( Brad, Jason Chris, Michael, and others), I've got something of great news rolling here that many of us may be very happy to hear concerning a limited run with Dave Burket Model King, Revell, the Legend Tom McEwen himself (Whom by the way is celebrating his birthday) and funny car great JIm White a consistent negotiator with Revell on the Navy Mongoo$e 1/16 stuff.....Pray/cross your figures ie: (cross you eyes ect)/....we may have something hot going on here. I'll be back tomorrow as I know more.... By the way Chjris ...as you already know I'm diggin that Prudhomme Army car...Guys give me a call or contact me to give me some encouragement...1-765-675-4109...lets talk about it or just chime in here....1/16 Modelers need our support!!!!!!
  7. Thanks for your responses gentlemen...It's greatly appreciated..Trust me..... Godspeed Chili
  8. Hello drag racing modelers!... I'm Art Loveland a participant for quite a few years in resin drag race modeling and decal art...many know me simply as Chilidog...lol..I thought it highly important that an issue come to light among our daily traffic here. 1/16 model car building is for the most part a vanishing craft. Please take the time to read this worthwhile attempt to resurrect interest and participation.... We need another 70's 1/16 funny car kit re-popped badly from Revell or the aftermarket prodcucers to re-pop the old Aurora kit.... I don't care which but the Gene Snow Vega, Jungle Jim Vega or Prudhomme Army Vega would be the logical chioces. There would be a ton of cars that could be done off of those bodies with an amazing quality Chuck Boerner decal. The resin aftermarket already supplies the conversions for 73-74 Vega swaps in resin so it wouldn't matter what kit they chose to do! I think if they did re-pop a 1/16 funny, (which is in my opinion they probably won't again because of price expense of the larger kits and demand), it would most likely be the Mongoo$e Duster, because Revell is on a roll with Tom McEwen. We really need to take advantage of this, because Tom has been so supportive. He's really getting quite elderly, so times running out guys....Seaze the opportunity now!!!!!...I know that sounds terrible, but with all respect to him it's true..(he's been the only guy in recent years that's really helped push the 70's drag racing model car hobby from within the drag racing celebrity realm). Revell most likely will never respond if we do not have people from within helping us promote.. The Charger or M/T Grand Am is just OK, because we need a chassis badly for the resin body aftermarket..If you dig the Grand Am, fine,... but how many cars can you build with that body??? 4 maybe?? Not a lot of flexibility for collectors there....Don't get me wrong, I'm not griping if they do the Grand Am again....just so we have a 1/16 F/C chassis to work with for the resin body market! Greg Fox,(one of a handful of 1/16 resin body makers), need our backing or this 1/16 70's F/C thing will surely die in a few short years..... Any of the 1/16 RE diggers will do as they're nearly the same kit with the front wing and a few details on the engine being the exception. Last but not least they could re-pop the FE rail...any car would do. The resin aftermarket could supply the detail swaps. We truly need a revival in 1/16 70's kits or support in the aftermarket or it's done folks, let's face it ..... The expense would come down a little as well,.... maybe $20-$50 per build just based on the fact that we would be skipping the Evilbay middleman collector prices of these kits...which is absolutely rediculas to say the least. Collector price explosion is just killing us!!!! These things jumped $40 in 1 year!!!! Horrible....It's money in OUR pocket to take the time to beat Revell's door down again and get this stuff going...Will they listen?...probably not...but I for one am not going down without a fight... and (with all due respect, mind you), if you care about this crazy 1/16 hobby, you shouldn't either. Act now guys!!! Contact Revell as I intend to again...Get out your signs and walkin' shoes geezers it's time to march!!!...well just kiddin', but I can't stress our participation enough. Well, theres my take...If you don't like 1/16 you probably wouldn't care,.... No complaints for the folks who build in 1/25, we need those kits too and I highly support their needs, but I personally will never build in the small scale again...I'm getting too old to build the small stuff because of my hands and eyes. The kits are much easier to detail.....Not only that guys,...these things are just soooo cool when completed!!!!...their large size just looks impressive. ....if you would like to talk 1/16 drag modeling give me a call at 1-765-675-4109...I'll get you in contact with the right people to start your builds with aftermarket parts/decals...or heck we'll just gab about it. We need more 1/16 modelers!!!! I'll do everything I can to help you out. Whew...that's a lot of typing....But someone needed to speak up again guys and well....I just did...Am I just beating a dead dog here??? Chime in.... Thanks, Godspeed in modeling....Art 'Chilidog' Loveland
  9. Are you going to put one of those Aurora F/C drivers in the seat?...lol. Would kinda' look cool..sorta chubby for a Prudhomme figure though..more like a Sush Matsubara figure...lol. Let me know and I'll make you up a set of Army firesuit and helmet decals N/C. I've seen a couple real good headshots of Snake in the cage but haven't got any decent full body photos. .
  10. Ooops my slip...I looked back after reviewing your changes I think you did it right...nothing appears to have raised in the rear...my goof. Art
  11. Chris...I just thought of a potential snag that could happen later because of your cockpit lengthening operation. Roof Clearance. You most definately have the right idea in lengthening the cage area, but when you changed the angle of the top rail tube you probably gained about 3 scale inches in the rear cage area as well causing the top of the cage to push the body up in that area. You might wanna raise the rear axle mounting flange by an equal amount to compensate. I know you want to maintain that low profile and things can get out of wack real quick in that tight cockpit area. Even a fire tent tin adjustment won't help in this instance. Beautiful job so far and I'm just trying to be of help... Art Loveland
  12. Looks fantastic! I've been following this thread every couple days to see updates. Very interesting to see it all come together. Art Loveland
