Jason, I used some grille material left over from a tamiya focus kit but a chunk of window screen is similar. Did you see what I meant about those headlights?
I would open up the back of the grille too! I did one and it really helped. Also post a pic of how the headlights mount. If I remember right the lenses have a tab in middle that goes in the chrome part. If so, trim tabs off back of lenses and fill holes in chrome buckets. Paint with alclad or silver. Makes the lights look much better
Keep it up Jason. If I may chime in on that carb setup, I say detail that dominator and build a pan for it to seal to the hood. I LOVE naked dominators LOL
I was in a slump too but since joining this board I have been working every night on something. Keep it up. Seems to me posting stuff and all the positive support here keeps a guy motivated to challenge skills and cut some plastic
Its coming together. here is a shot with some stuff on it. grille and lights in. windows in. still have hood trim, door handles, mirror, end gate, tail lights, engine, exhaust and a few other things to wrap up.
I have built several of these kits and they are fun to play with. I use dupli color products all the time. hit that thing with the sandable primer and then the sealer and go to town. I have never had a problem.
I did the 69 car for a fellow a few yrs back and have all parts to do the 70. resin scoop and some other bits. I will be doing it someday after a zillion other things just like the rest of you lol
Its a resin cammer I have had for a while. basically the thunderbolt block and I think jo han cammer top end. those are about the closest valve covers out there for one. front cover is from the drag version of the 68 GT500 from amt. its a mix of cammer parts from everyone put in one resin pkg lol
very good answer Jim. Being a mostly ford guy I never paid much attention to that stuff on the caharger kit. So are you still using the floor pans and correcting just the rails with brass? I hear what you are saying about the rear spring mounts as most kits are not done properly but in plastic I think it would be a tough thing to mold and still be strong. I want to learn how to use brass so I will be following this. As for your light on the inside, I think once its primed and the headliner painted I dont think it will be an issue with the glowing you have on bare plastic
In my experience LED lighting gives off very little heat. May I ask why you are doing a brass chassis when this particular kit has a very nice one already? Seems like alot of wasted work.
