Man that's sharp. I've seen a few attempts at putting a roof on one of these, and none of them quite got it right, 'til yours. Great job.
-
Oh yeah...looking MUCH better, Mike! You'd started losin' me with the whole hot tub deal but you've got 'er back on track now for sure.
Now if we can just get your pictures to show up properly...lol.

Gents...
Ever think that maybe you might have missed the point somewhere, and that you're putting way too much thought into something? Or maybe it's me. In fact, it likely is. I think I'll just go back to watching the wanted section and helpin' people out where I can. That was working just fine.
Carry on.

Coming back together after a strip and repaint.

Gah...yer killin' me here, John! Incredible stuff...

All they'll hear from me on this one is "Yes...Yes! YES!"
Parts galore. Can't wait.

Hey, thanks Matt. Yeah, I had the same thought...just the primer and blonde. Then again, there are so many other schemes I'd like to do on this kit, I don't think I could run out of ways to build it before I kick off. Love this kit.

Cool...if that color doesn't pop, I don't know what does.

Holy Silver! Heheh...bright.
I'm not holding my breath. We saw one this afternoon while picking my son up from work...and it's obnoxiously obvious. I already knew, as I was one of the bajillion kids who had a couple of these Fox bodies in his 20's, but seeing the notch again today all fresh and perky...and TALL...
Not trying to get the firestorm started again. Just sayin'. Carry on, Erik...we all wanna see how it looks with the glass in, too.

Good news, bad news.
The good? The interior came out so nice that it no longer fit where I thought the rest of the car was headed. I had some sketchy foil (lumpy adhesive showing through...bah), so since I was going to re-do much of that anyway, and it was on the edges where I needed it for masking, I went ahead and shot the lower body in the Stop Light Red Metallic I was already thinking of, and it looked fantastic. So I let it dry a while, re-masked, and shot the roof.
The bad? In my excitement, I forgot that the lower body had a Dull Red base and shot the Stop Light Red over the Bright Red. Both make for a beautiful base color, but I like it a lot better for this car over the darker red.
Guess where it's goin'? Yep! Dunk. Too bad, too, because aside from the shade difference it was coming out really nice. It's all good, though...I think it's also gonna get a wheel/tire change, and drop that booty down a bunch.

Thanks

Yep, Ben...keep practicing with that 150. That's what I have as well, and it does just fine. Any a/b is like anything else that takes finesse to operate -- you have to learn its sweet spots (and in this case, what mix ratios it likes) and then it'll all come together. Buying another will just mean that you have two under the bench to learn their sweet spots.

Poop on a stick. Rick, I hope things smooth out for ya.

Alyn...wow. Did this ever come out fantastic. Beautiful!

Thanks, guys. Much appreciated.

Turtle-slow conversion of an old Johan 1962 Oldsmobile Super 88 into a 98 Town Sedan, to rep one of my old cars. It was an ebay find...horrid gluebomb...but plastic, which is infinitely easier for me to work on than resin. The 88's shared roofs with the Chevy and Pontiac, where the 98's shared roofs with the Caddy and Buick. I tried to simply swap on an AMT '62 Buick roof, but it's too narrow for the Johan body. This lead me to start measuring, and learning just how inaccurate the Olds body is. One of these days...
This is the only pic of my 98's I have handy. I'd taken tons over the years, but they're on a cd somewhere and I haven't run across it yet. The silver one is the Town Sedan, and was my daily driver for a decade. The red was to be my next project, a Holiday Sedan, until my back and hips got bad enough that working on these old beasts was impossible.

Ha! Well, I'm sure Mister J to the P on the E of the Bay would absolutely, positively lurk here...unless he's utterly lazy. It'd have to be in his "How to Gank the Begeesus out of Under-experienced Hobbyists 101" handbook to keep a frequent eye on that hobbies "Wanted" sections.
And Bill, I think you had another thread recently where you were questioning your posting habits and value to the community. I'll say the same thing here that I said there -- We need more like you around here. And I'll add to it that anyone who takes issue with your posts must have some seriously thin skin or some overly-fragile aspect to their ego. You 'da man, man...easily one of my top 5 favorite model car builders/posters, not only for your subjects and skills, but you know your stuff better than most and are able...and take the time... to convey it all in a manner understandable by virtually anyone.
Hats off to ya, my friend...and quit frettin'. You're one of the really good ones just keep on keepin' on.

Cool idea for a thread. I've got several that are 10 years or more. At this point, whether I even still consider them viable projects or just parts cars is debatable. There are a couple that are absolutely still projects, though, and one that is still very much a "must do". I'll see if I can dig up some pics.

Lookin' good, Jeff!

Nice. All that toning down really paid off. The stripes do look okay, but too bad about the thickness.
Who does a 1/12 kit? I know of the 1/16 varieties but don't believe I've ever noticed a 1/12. One of these days, I'd like to build a copy of the old #22 racer.

Ha yep Todd no change really eh?
Thanks, Augie. Still moving forward, just slowly. Debating over-coating the dull red with stop light red.
