  1. I'm usually hesitant to post about eBay wins, but I'm so pleased with this one I just have to. My apologies if anyone on here was bidding on this, but I just picked it up today... There's a bag full of parts to go with it. Don't have time to sort through it all yet, but I hope all the pieces are there!
  2. Wow, that's harsh. On the bright side, its not a complete loss!
  3. I confess: I have a bit of an obsession with those Blazer Chalets/Jimmy Casa Grandes. Here's an EB camper: Gallery link here And here's some other campers on the Blazer Chalet website.
  4. Looks good! Might've been easier to start with a Lindberg monster truck, though...
  5. I do believe that a 1:1 version of this would have a one-piece driveshaft.
  6. The VW Beetle camper was actually a kit car. You can still get the plans for it!
  7. Now that looks cool! I bet the LoneStar's fairing could be cut down to cover that hole...
  8. I wasn't really looking necessarily for a formal roof, just something other than the bubbletop.
  9. Basically all I would do is cut the cab like so... But then the sleeper would just look weird. I think I'll just end up building without the upper fairing.
  10. Yeah, the body work still has a way to go. The wheel wells are still where they're supposed to be...
  11. First primer coat to get the bodywork rolling. Who can tell what I did?
  12. I've been looking at the bed and comparing it with an AMT 53 F-100 and y'all are right, it looks like a better fit; its sitting in brake fluid now to get it ready. In the mean time, I may have found an alternative for the wheels...
  13. Just wondering if anyone has seen or if it would even be rational to have a flat-top LoneStar. Basically it would look like older style Western Stars that kinda look like a day cab with a sleeper added. I hate the look of the Lone-and ProStars with those huge fairings on them... but I was pleased to notice in the kit and seeing some builds here that it looks a lot better without the upper fairing on. I got the idea in my head to chop it all off but it probably wouldn't look so great...thoughts?
  14. I'm finding that it really depends on the paint what you use to strip it. I used Super Clean almost exclusively up until about a month ago when I had a body painted with Testor's One Coat that sat for 3 weeks and nothing came off. I tried brake fluid instead and it finally started coming off, but not completely. I may look into 90% alcohol with another body that I have that was painted with nail polish (several times in several colours...sigh). I also found that, on bodies that were painted without primer, brake fluid strips only the paint away and leaves the plastic shiny like it came out of the box whereas Super Clean tends to eat away at the plastic a bit.
  15. @Mike: I already have 2 of the Bel Airs with the bubbletops. Looking for a hardtop roof on a Bel Air.... exactly what @Jeff posted...awesome!
  16. What would one use for rims for this setup? I'm interested...
  17. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a 62 Bel Air body with a formal roof? I know there is the Revell 62 Impala, and Jimmy Flintstone makes a 62 Pontiac Catalina bubbletop, but did anyone ever make the result (ie Catalina's roof on a Bel AIr)?
  18. That one went on eBay last week for I think $103 for a complete built-up!
  19. Ahh, that's it, then. After 1963 GM backed out of officially supporting racing endeavours, including NASCAR. They didn't get back in until 1970.
  20. EFI? Its about time NASCAR caught up to the rest of the racing world. Let me guess: you hate road races, don't you?
  21. According to my inventory I have 326 models. Out of that: 40 of them are built, 22 of them are built-ups from a lot I purchased and will be rebuilt eventually, and the rest are either unbuilt (the majority) or in progress. So, approximately 264 unbuilt kits. And more on the way!
  22. Maybe someone that knows more NASCAR history than me can answer this. I was reading up on the Ford/Mercury and Dodge/Plymouth aero cars of 1969 and 1970 and the thought occurred to me: how come GM didn't build one? One could argue that the later Laguna S-3 was their attempt at an aero car, but why so late? What would a 69/70 aero Chevelle look like?
  23. I recognize this stash... the seller is a poster on "that other magazine forum"...
  24. My uncle has a 68 with factory 4WD and a small back window...
  25. Today I got the hole in my wall of model storage shelves filled.
