I'm working on a collection of vintage dealership literature and was wondering if there was anyone else that collects these? Also, would anyone be interested in scans from any of these? The majority of my collection so far is GM, primarily due to what I can get my hands on around here. 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air, 210, 150 1960 GMC C/K 10, 20, 30 1960 GMC Panels, Suburban - Carry-All 1960 GMC C910, C920, C930 1960 GMC LCF L950, L960 1960 GMC C970 1960 GMC C980 1960 GMC Tandems 1960 Chevrolet Impala, Bel Air, Biscayne, Nomad, Kingswood 1962 GMC Four-Wheel Drive Models 1962 GMC Panels, Suburban - Carry-All 1963 Chevrolet Maintenance, Household Measurements 1965 Acadian Beaumont, Canso, Invader 1967 GMC Handi-Van, C/K pickups, Forward Control 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado, 98, Delta 88 Custom, Delta 88, Delmont 88, Cutlass, Vista Cruiser 1968 Acadian 1969 Chevrolet Nova 1970 Acadian 1971 Pontiac Firebirds 1972 Chevrolet Nova 1972 Pontiac Grand Prix, Grand Ville, Bonneville, Pariesienne Braugham, Catalina, Laurentian 1972 Ford F-Series 1972 Pontiac Ventura II 1973 Jeep Wagoneer, J-Series, CJ5, CJ6, Renegade, Commando 1974 Chevrolet Car Wagons, Blazer, Sportvan 1974 Pontiac Ventura, GTO 1976 Chevrolet C/K 10, 20, 30 1977 GMC C/K 10, 20, 30 1980 Chevrolet C/K 10, 20, 30 1980 Ford Recreation Vehicles 1981 GMC C/K 10, 20, 30 I mainly purchase brochures of vehicles I can recreate in 1:25 scale, but I also pick up interesting oddball ones sometimes, depending on price. The store I get these from has a suggested price on each brochure, but the more I buy at a time the prices goes down a little bit.

Not to be a stick-in-the-mud, but that J-10 up there is actually a full size truck... I'll jump in on this one. I'm currently working on a 78 Courier body on a 94 Ranger chassis. Motorvation is provided by a FI 5.0L from a Mustang kit of some sort (parts bin). These pictures are from when I first started; the body has been stripped of paint and bodywork has begun (it was an old build of miine):

40 Ford Pickup
Fabrux replied to Rob McKee's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I picked up the most recent repop of this kit a few weeks back and when I got it home and started test fitting it together, I became so frustrated with it I threw it back in the box and it sits on my shelf. Being that its 1:24 scale I should've known better that its an old, old Monogram tooling... -
Subscription Questions

Sounds good, Scott! I wasn't sure if you stocked it regularly or if the issue I picked up was an experiment on your part... -
First question/issue: The Golden Bell Press website has been suspended. Does this indicate problems with the publisher? Will the magazine still get published? Second question: Why is there such a large price differential between betting the magazine sent to a US address and a Canadian address (that is within 2 hours of the US)? Tracking down each issue is a lot easier for me than paying $65 upfront...

My apologies; I had gotten the impression that you were encouraging folks to register... :S -
I realize the nature of the game when it comes to buing kits off of eBay. This was intended as more of apoint-and-laugh kind of thread...

Gregg, I signed up for the website and took a look around. I noticed that currently the currency is set to GBP and there doesn't seem to be an option to change it anywhere. Is this the final setting for the website or will it be changed to USD? I am new to Model Cars Magazine and never saw/used the old eModelCars. -
I really don't understand sometimes how the prices on eBay get to be the way they do. And why some bidders drive the price up to ridiculous levels. Take, for example, the simple Revell Chevy Van with Race Trailer. Yes, I know it hasn't been released in a while. But this auction is currently up to $61. There's another auction currently at a starting price of $44.99 and a Buy-It-Now for $49.99. Just last month I purchased the exact same kit PLUS a Pro-Street Chevelle for only $35. I guess its worth a lot more to some people... Anyone else with crazy eBay stories?

The colour is Testors One Coat Purplicious, the interior is Krylon Almond Satin. I also forgot to mention that I swapped the kit engine for a carburetted 302 cobbled together from a couple kits.

My local club had a contest these past few months to bring a completed new build kit to our first club meeting of the new year. Here's my entry, a Revell 1981 Bronco kit. This was my first try with BMF...

Sorry I haven't updated yet, still waiting on some substantial progress. The cab is taking a while to get the corners built up properly (tedious body work). The paint on the bed isn't stripping well for whatever reason; I think I'm going to switch it over to brake fluid and see how that goes. When examining the bare plastic cab, I noticed that the header panel above the grille has the FORD engraving on it as would be accurate for 62-64; the grille itself is definitely a 61 (has the 1961 license plate). I've kinda been wanting to go with a chrome grille for this truck and now I"m not sure if I should stick with a 61 and shave the header panel, or maybe go with a 62-64. The 62 would be my personal favourite, but I prefer the 63+ hood/fender emblems. I suppose in the end the truck won't be accurate anyways as the TIB suspension didn't debut until 65. Maybe I'm just following current trends in the 1:1 custom truck scene but I really like the 60's pickups more than any others. I still like the 67-72 Fords and Chevs but the 61-66 Ford and 60-66 Chevs are personal favourites at the moment. Might have something to do with knowing where there is a 65-66 Ford and a 64-66 Chev sitting in yards...

I once saw a trick where a modeler cut out the center console, covered it on the inside with masking take and the filled in the hole from the bottom of the tub with two-part epoxy. The result was an almost flawless covering of the hole; the texture of the masking take matched the molded in carpet fairly well. And, if you're flocking the carpet anyways, no one will be able to tell!

I guess its always a bit sacriligeous when someone cuts into an old, out-of-production kit, but sometimes it just needs to be done. I rationalize this to myself by the fact that the bed on this AMT F-100 unibody was hacked into long before I got it. The wheel wells were completely altered and were beyond my skills to return to stock. Also, there were no taillights with this when I bought it and the buckets were really mangled. I've had this kit for a few years now in various stages of completion and I finally decided that the only way I was going to end up buildinb it was to separate the cab from the body. So, with that out of the way, I present this WIP of a 1961 F-100 flareside. My most recent incarnation looked like this: I chopped off the bed and filleted the cab corners. The frame is from a 96 F-150 and a 56 F-100 donated its bed. Wheels are mock up only for now. The pieces are currently soaking in the purple bath to strip the paint so I can start smoothing out the body work.
