  1. I used to get rather upset when finding items on eBay that are perfect, except for not shipping outside US borders. If you think its maddening being overseas, try sharing a land border with the US! Thankfully, I am close enough to the US to travel there and back in a morning. I have a receiver in the US that accepts parcels for me and, even though I am registered in Canada, because I have a confirmed US shipping address I no longer have this problem! I do understand sellers's reasons for not offering international shipping due to the high potential of fraud/genuinely lost items, but there are those that are simply unwilling to do just a little bit of extra effort of filling out customs forms to ship internationally. Those are the sellers that really irk me.
  2. I believe that Michael's prices on EVERYthing is adjusted to account for the coupons. If you think model kits are expensive there, have you ever looked at their cake decorating stuff?
  3. Thank you very much, Jairus! I'm hoping to build both a 61 Starliner and a 60 Club Sedan...
  4. Old thread, I know, but I was wondering if these pictures are still around somewhere?
  5. Ever have one of those ideas that just won't go away until you try it? Well... The blue body is from a 92 GT convertible. I had tried to remove a bad paint job but it didn't work so well. I still have to get rid of the paint, but I'm going to try brake fluid this time. Anyhoo, all the white bits are from an 85 SVO body. I'm also going to attempt to build a 92 GT hatch from the leftover bits.
  6. I was going to say, didn't the whole front of the Deora open up, not just the window?
  7. I was looking at my stash and one thing lead to another, out came the razor saw and I ended up with this: Let's make something utilitarian out of this abomination of an SUV!
  8. Let's get going! It doesn't look like much has been accomplished but it has! I've stripped the paint, cleaned up the body, swapped the driver's side bed fender for a passenger side fender from a spare to get rid of the fuel door, fitted the engine (went with the 5.0L), built a firewall and radiator support, built a tailgate... phew! Its ready for some paint now. Just to give you an idea of just how small the Courier is compared to the Ranger/Explorer, the rear bench for an Explorer is the perfect size for the Courier.
  9. Well, you would definitely have to have a custom tune for a real vehicle as I don't think any manufacturer ever built a multi-TB setup. For going with a twi-TB setup, it would really only be practical with a TBI-type setup as most other FI engines would have injectors for each cylinder. Then again, I suppose it might be possible to have your injectors and link up three TBs for air intake only just like carbs were linked... hmm.
  10. Scott's usually really good with his pricing. We all love him for it!
  11. I'm heading down to Bangor this week and was wondering if there are any members from that area. I found a listing for Croft Hobbies and Union Station Hobby but they sound more like train shops...
  12. I guess its sometimes just the mindset of 'I paid HOW much for this and I'm cutting it up?!' I sorta have the same feelings with my Lonestar kit; I want to build it as a phantom flat-top as I hate the huge fairing but I can just feel my friends cringing that bought it for me for my birthday!
  13. My LHS has the 53 Hudson for $32; he hasn't gotten the 52 yet, I don't think. But this is CDN pricing...
  14. The bed is from a Revell 56 F-100 which is 1:25 scale so it should be the same as the 61. No colour yet but I do want to do two-tone with a white roof. Not sure yet if I'm going to do a Ford two-tone or a Chev two-tone pattern.
  15. Wow, I never knew about those websites! Thanks guys!
  16. I'm working on a collection of vintage dealership literature and was wondering if there was anyone else that collects these? Also, would anyone be interested in scans from any of these? The majority of my collection so far is GM, primarily due to what I can get my hands on around here. 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air, 210, 150 1960 GMC C/K 10, 20, 30 1960 GMC Panels, Suburban - Carry-All 1960 GMC C910, C920, C930 1960 GMC LCF L950, L960 1960 GMC C970 1960 GMC C980 1960 GMC Tandems 1960 Chevrolet Impala, Bel Air, Biscayne, Nomad, Kingswood 1962 GMC Four-Wheel Drive Models 1962 GMC Panels, Suburban - Carry-All 1963 Chevrolet Maintenance, Household Measurements 1965 Acadian Beaumont, Canso, Invader 1967 GMC Handi-Van, C/K pickups, Forward Control 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado, 98, Delta 88 Custom, Delta 88, Delmont 88, Cutlass, Vista Cruiser 1968 Acadian 1969 Chevrolet Nova 1970 Acadian 1971 Pontiac Firebirds 1972 Chevrolet Nova 1972 Pontiac Grand Prix, Grand Ville, Bonneville, Pariesienne Braugham, Catalina, Laurentian 1972 Ford F-Series 1972 Pontiac Ventura II 1973 Jeep Wagoneer, J-Series, CJ5, CJ6, Renegade, Commando 1974 Chevrolet Car Wagons, Blazer, Sportvan 1974 Pontiac Ventura, GTO 1976 Chevrolet C/K 10, 20, 30 1977 GMC C/K 10, 20, 30 1980 Chevrolet C/K 10, 20, 30 1980 Ford Recreation Vehicles 1981 GMC C/K 10, 20, 30 I mainly purchase brochures of vehicles I can recreate in 1:25 scale, but I also pick up interesting oddball ones sometimes, depending on price. The store I get these from has a suggested price on each brochure, but the more I buy at a time the prices goes down a little bit.
  17. I forgot to share a bit of an update. I have the body primed and smoothed out. Slowly chugging along on this one. It'll be a while to finish as I need to order glass and a plated grille/front bumper from Modelhaus.
  18. Not to be a stick-in-the-mud, but that J-10 up there is actually a full size truck... I'll jump in on this one. I'm currently working on a 78 Courier body on a 94 Ranger chassis. Motorvation is provided by a FI 5.0L from a Mustang kit of some sort (parts bin). These pictures are from when I first started; the body has been stripped of paint and bodywork has begun (it was an old build of miine):
  19. Y'know, there's a reason modern cars tend to look a lot alike: aerodynamic efficiency.
  20. I picked up the most recent repop of this kit a few weeks back and when I got it home and started test fitting it together, I became so frustrated with it I threw it back in the box and it sits on my shelf. Being that its 1:24 scale I should've known better that its an old, old Monogram tooling...
  21. Given the previous mention of C'etait un rendez-vous I'm surprised no one mentioned the Getaway in Stockholm series. Mind you, I've only ever seen the second one with the Escort RS Cosworth and the Supra, but its pretty cool.
  22. Sounds good, Scott! I wasn't sure if you stocked it regularly or if the issue I picked up was an experiment on your part...
  23. First question/issue: The Golden Bell Press website has been suspended. Does this indicate problems with the publisher? Will the magazine still get published? Second question: Why is there such a large price differential between betting the magazine sent to a US address and a Canadian address (that is within 2 hours of the US)? Tracking down each issue is a lot easier for me than paying $65 upfront...
  24. All of the links in the Members Area seem to be broken...
  25. Currently sitting at a balmy -4°C/25°F....
