  1. Ahh, that's it, then. After 1963 GM backed out of officially supporting racing endeavours, including NASCAR. They didn't get back in until 1970.
  2. EFI? Its about time NASCAR caught up to the rest of the racing world. Let me guess: you hate road races, don't you?
  3. According to my inventory I have 326 models. Out of that: 40 of them are built, 22 of them are built-ups from a lot I purchased and will be rebuilt eventually, and the rest are either unbuilt (the majority) or in progress. So, approximately 264 unbuilt kits. And more on the way!
  4. Maybe someone that knows more NASCAR history than me can answer this. I was reading up on the Ford/Mercury and Dodge/Plymouth aero cars of 1969 and 1970 and the thought occurred to me: how come GM didn't build one? One could argue that the later Laguna S-3 was their attempt at an aero car, but why so late? What would a 69/70 aero Chevelle look like?
  5. I recognize this stash... the seller is a poster on "that other magazine forum"...
  6. My uncle has a 68 with factory 4WD and a small back window...
  7. Today I got the hole in my wall of model storage shelves filled.
  8. The slip of paper mentions a specific part number. IIRC that paper was in a bag that was only the trailer (I can't remember and mine is all out of the bags now). Perhaps the trailer is a Revell Germany kit? Edit: The '857250' section of the part number includes the kit number '7250'; perhaps the whole thing was put out by Revell Germany for some reason...
  9. Thanks, Tony! The 62 F-100 in the picture above will be built box stock. Well, I want to try and modify the engine to something other than a tri-carb setup if I can... That is, of course, once I figure out how to strip nail polish from the body.
  10. Now that I have an unmolested 61-63 F-100 body to compare with, I can see how much the wheel wells of this kit were mangled.
  11. Today I received from eBay a 1962 Ford pickup that needed more work than I thought...ah well. Yesterday at my club meeting I picked up the latest MCM issue, the 1976 Gremlin X kit, and a 2000 F-150 Harley Edition kit (minus the Harley).
  12. They're speaking Finnish. And those cars are fast...
  13. I used to get rather upset when finding items on eBay that are perfect, except for not shipping outside US borders. If you think its maddening being overseas, try sharing a land border with the US! Thankfully, I am close enough to the US to travel there and back in a morning. I have a receiver in the US that accepts parcels for me and, even though I am registered in Canada, because I have a confirmed US shipping address I no longer have this problem! I do understand sellers's reasons for not offering international shipping due to the high potential of fraud/genuinely lost items, but there are those that are simply unwilling to do just a little bit of extra effort of filling out customs forms to ship internationally. Those are the sellers that really irk me.
  14. I believe that Michael's prices on EVERYthing is adjusted to account for the coupons. If you think model kits are expensive there, have you ever looked at their cake decorating stuff?
  15. Thank you very much, Jairus! I'm hoping to build both a 61 Starliner and a 60 Club Sedan...
  16. Old thread, I know, but I was wondering if these pictures are still around somewhere?
  17. Ever have one of those ideas that just won't go away until you try it? Well... The blue body is from a 92 GT convertible. I had tried to remove a bad paint job but it didn't work so well. I still have to get rid of the paint, but I'm going to try brake fluid this time. Anyhoo, all the white bits are from an 85 SVO body. I'm also going to attempt to build a 92 GT hatch from the leftover bits.
  18. I was going to say, didn't the whole front of the Deora open up, not just the window?
  19. I was looking at my stash and one thing lead to another, out came the razor saw and I ended up with this: Let's make something utilitarian out of this abomination of an SUV!
  20. Let's get going! It doesn't look like much has been accomplished but it has! I've stripped the paint, cleaned up the body, swapped the driver's side bed fender for a passenger side fender from a spare to get rid of the fuel door, fitted the engine (went with the 5.0L), built a firewall and radiator support, built a tailgate... phew! Its ready for some paint now. Just to give you an idea of just how small the Courier is compared to the Ranger/Explorer, the rear bench for an Explorer is the perfect size for the Courier.
  21. Well, you would definitely have to have a custom tune for a real vehicle as I don't think any manufacturer ever built a multi-TB setup. For going with a twi-TB setup, it would really only be practical with a TBI-type setup as most other FI engines would have injectors for each cylinder. Then again, I suppose it might be possible to have your injectors and link up three TBs for air intake only just like carbs were linked... hmm.
  22. Scott's usually really good with his pricing. We all love him for it!
  23. I'm heading down to Bangor this week and was wondering if there are any members from that area. I found a listing for Croft Hobbies and Union Station Hobby but they sound more like train shops...
  24. I guess its sometimes just the mindset of 'I paid HOW much for this and I'm cutting it up?!' I sorta have the same feelings with my Lonestar kit; I want to build it as a phantom flat-top as I hate the huge fairing but I can just feel my friends cringing that bought it for me for my birthday!
  25. My LHS has the 53 Hudson for $32; he hasn't gotten the 52 yet, I don't think. But this is CDN pricing...
