  1. Here are pictures of the mid 1960's Fiat twin engine dragster I'm building. I used to watch cars like run at strips all over the US. Apart from the gassers, these were my favorite cars. This is another 1/4 scale build as was the rat rod I posted a while back. I had to build some tube benders to do the frame as the ones I had produced the wrong radius. The frame is steel DOM tube as is the front axle. The engine blocks were mastered in styrene and rotary cast in urethane. The front wheels are 6061 aluim. The spokes are stainless Tig welding rods. I will use molded copies the M&H Racemaster slicks I made for the rat rod. Have to replace the heim joints on the steering as they are the wrong scale. The body is next. I think I will have to mold it as you will see most of the inside. The front axle and suspension parts will be chrome plated.
  2. How is the durability of the Alclad for handling? I ask because I'm about to send some steel parts for chrome plating. The gas tank, especially, and the parts 'Alcladed' you did look good.
  3. Old Sprinter, it's good to have a room to display them and I love the large scale steampunk gyrocopter hanging at the center of your room..
  4. @ Old Sprinter, where to put it? When I finish the 1/4 scale pin up girl to go with it, I will build a glass case to display it . I have a place to put it but I think I won't build anymore big ones......like a 1/4 scale top fuel car.
  5. @ southpier, the heads are from a movie (don't remember which) where we had face casts of actors for use in the special effects dept. Maybe it was Red Planet since one of them is Val Kilmer's face.
  6. Thank you all for the comments, it makes it worthwhile when people appreciate your work. @ Mr.1/16th, Almost all of the 1/4 scale parts had to be scratch built. The engine block is from the Visible V8 kit with a few additions like head bolts and details in the casting. I doctored a carburetor , molded, and cast 6 off. Venturis are made from plastic wine glass stems. The wheels and tires are a combination of turned masters, 3D modeling and printing, and mold-cast techniques. Here are a few construction photos. This is quite a change from the 25mm long hot rods I used to build up from the "free toys" in corn flakes packets.
  7. Thanks for replies, here are some more photos of build. I have about a week's work on another job before I can finish the model. Some parts are just placed at the moment.
  8. I guess I might as well make my first post a big one (1/4 scale). Here are some photos of my almost finished model. I still have a few parts and weathering to do. Most techniques have been used in this one: styrene sheet (body), 3D printing (wheels and rear tire walls), and steel and alloy for the frame and suspension. I started off building 25th scale when I was about 8 years old and have been building models ever since.
  9. My 1/4 scale 31 hot rod (of sorts) is....... much shorter than a 1/8 scale TF car. Does that make it more feasible? Will post in a few days.
  10. What about 1/5 or 1/4 scale car models, would they be accepted here ?
