  1. Did you ever have one of those projects that takes a FEW turns along the way and ends up totally different from your original vision? This was one such project... It began with an idea I had seen on one of the Pierce brochures: This was several years before the Plaskit FL series cab was available, so I had to consider a suitable substitute... I had in my stash a Plaskit Mack RD600 hood, and thought that I would do a little mock-up to see how it would look... It seemed like a good choice, so I went with it. After building some other components, it was clear that the scratchbuilt tanker body was a bit out of proportion and too wide: After being stalled for a few years, several discussions with fellow modelers, etc. - I decided to start with a new Mack R chassis. This was extended, and chrome wheels were added. To be continued...
  2. Excellent conversion! As others have shared, This is a great combination that produces a "spot on" replica of what you could find in any volunteer fire station of the period. These trucks can still be found in service in some of the more rural or financially challenged volunteer departments. Nice details as well. There are many options with die-cast subjects, especially those not available in plastic or resin .
  3. For those of you with a good eye: What would be a good starting point for a Granite or Titan? How would you approach it? Any ideas? Oh, and one final question. How do I set up my posts to receive an e-mail notification of replies? Thanks.
  4. Kurt, Sadly - thanks for the bad news I like the look of the Titan as well! Come on guys, aren't there any of you who are gifted with sculpting abilities!(LOL)? I unfortunately do not posess the "sculpting gene"... Anyone else interested in a newer Mack cab? I think that if some of the resin casters knew that there was enough interest, it might help to bring one to fruition. If there IS anything that I can do to assist in this effort, please let me know . Thanks.
  5. Hi Guys, I am new to this forum. I have been wondering if anyone out there is or has released a Mack Granite resin cab in 1/24-25 scale? I know that Tim Sherman had a "friend that was working on one" a few years ago, but have never heard anything else about it... I look forward to learning and contributing here. Thanks. David Gusky
