  1. Here is the start to my 62 thunderbird demolition derby car for Derby City Shootout. I still have a long ways to go but the body is almost done. this is the first time i used any other type of rust besides the model master enamel rust. I still have to weather the driver side post
  2. Im going to try and be here with a few cars
  3. Using a mopar unibody frame under a gm full frame car?
  4. i usually heat the lid up with a match and then twist it off
  5. WOuld they 1960 ford starliner chassis work under this?
  6. Well its been how long since this was over???? and i'm still not done with it. but here is some progress. The back bumper ont he passenger side was ripped off and i will have some wire running from the roll bar down to the bumper to make a "quick fix" before the feature
  7. I think it looks good and who cares if it isn't carousel red or whatever color its supposed to be. it looks good and thats all that matters. i hate people that criticize
  8. I'm pretty sure i'm nto going to be able to get my car done by the deadline. The build was supposed to be pretty simple but it turned out to getting alot more done then i should of done to it for a 3day build. But o well theres always next time to build a stock build
  9. some progress pics. body and motor is done. now i have to start on the chassis and interior
  10. It is mpcs dodge daytona and yes its a demolition derby car. i should have some more progress pics posted up throughout the day tomorrow
  11. what i started with. This is probably one of the worst cars i've messed with. started out with junk trying to make it look halfway decent Almost ready to paint I didnt take pics of the grey primer but here it is in the finished coat. Its ready for lettering now The hack job on the chassis. still extremely rough. i have to sand everything down still
  12. will have pics up shortly of the daytona.
  13. i'm changing again. going to be building a dodge daytona
  14. i've changed my mind i am going to build the 57 chevy zinger and the super semi
  15. FOr the body color i use the cheap walmart grey primer spray paint to do the base coat and then i just use valspar spray paint for the body color. Then the numbers and lettering i'll use either the acrylic brush paint in the craft section or i'll use model master acrylic brush paint. It just depends on what color i'm going to use. After the paint is finished you can take your knife or something and scratch the body up and the primer will show through to look like sheetmetal
  16. it removes valspar paint pretty good. i always use spray paint to paint my car and the purple power does a good job at stripping it.
  17. Alright guys i'm stuck on a color to paint the gremlin. its either going to be pink or possibly white. If i did pinkt hen i was maybe going to paint the numbers and lettering in black and possibly some flames on front in black and maybe a outline in a lime green. If i did white i was going to paint my weld strap black and paint the numbers and lettering a aqua color. any ideas? Oh yea i've got to paint my amt pacer wagon the same color(both are going to be on a team compact derby contest this fall)
  18. Some more progress and the motor/ wheels and tires i plan on using body is bent up with diamond plate strap over the body seams to simulate welding the panels together I am scratchbuilding a front suspension so i had to make new strut towers. they are still rough My motor ford 2.3 and wheel/tire
  19. Is it ok to join in still . i started on amts gremlin. It will be a compact demolition derby car. fresh started to bend up
  20. i WOuld like to join this. i have revells 32 ford. might use the gremlins slicks and motor for this build
  21. i think amts' 1960 ford starliner is probably one of the best. very detailed and everything fits pretty good
  22. my favorite. The motor i use in my demolition derby cars small block chevy 355
  23. yea derby cars are my specialty i geuss you could say. I build the others just for a nice quick build in between demo cars.
  24. Here it is after adding sheetmetal to the sides and adding some bars to the front end to make it lower to take out spindles and tires O yes lol i am now in the process of making spindles out of grade 8 3/4 bolts and i am usings 4in. wheels for the front
