Alex, I like what you've done so far. One quick tip for accuracy: On most (All?) Mopars of this vintage, the engine bay was painted the same color as the car itself. On yours, it would be fairly easy to mask this area off and spray it. It probably wouldn't hurt to mask across the bottom of the engine bay to keep paint from going through and possibly ending up back on your car.
Once the paint has dried, you can do all the detail painting etc.
Thanks, I didn't know that. I guess I have to repaint it. I just painted it black this morning, like the box art shows. Oh well, I'll just paint it a flat white and then re-spray the engine bay. I appreciate the tip!

Okay, a few more update pics.
Thanks again for looking! Comments, questions, suggestions are welcome.

Well, got back from my vacation, and got right back to the bench and laid some paint.
More to come later! Thanks for looking!

Those wheels look slick! How did you do them? Marker?

Thanks everyone! Well I decided to go with the "Go Mango". I just decanted it and now waiting for it to gas out. Anyone know how long it takes to gas out? So far I have waited about 45 minutes and it still has pressure when I close the cap, so I am just going to wait longer. I have been slowly stirring about every ten min. Probably won't get anything else done on this until next weekend as I am leaving on vacation tonight. Thanks agan everyone for the nice comments and suggestions. I'll be back next weekend!

Just a quick update with the tires mocked up.

This is what I have so far...
Still a few bumps to smooth out, that wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

WoW! it soooooo perty!!
-
Thanks everyone for the compliments! It is appreciated!
if i can give you one piece of advice it would be to use filler on the gaps in the front bumper... i didnt with mine and it still bugs me everytime i see it... seen others who have done it and it looks so much better... what color you thinking about doing
Ok you twisted my arm!
Going to let it dry overnight. As far as color goes, I don't know. I'm thinking the Hemi orange, or the green color. Leaning more toward the green. Not sure what paint to use. I saw Createx Pearl Lime over a gray primer and it looked really sweeeeeet, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions? I'll be using an airbrush.
And a little more progress
Seems like it is getting pretty close to done. After paint it looks like all that will be left is assembly of the chassis and body and then all of the trim bits.

that looks cool!

Thanks Andy!
Does anyone know what color to use to paint a "wood" dash?

Nice work! Is this a curbside kit?
-
Well, I figured that I finally have enough progress to post up on the workbench. This is my first model kit that isn't a snap-fit. Since I am a noob, I did not try anything too difficult. About the extent of my bravery has gone to flocking the interior floor. I will probably paint the body this weekend. I have the yost airbrushing video on the way, so I may wait a little longer to paint until I watch it, or I may just give it a whirl! So far this build has been pretty easy going. haven't really had too much of an issue with getting things together. Anyway here are the photos of the build so far. Constructive criticism is welcomed
Thanks!

Alex, what site did you find that info at? thats good info to know there
I say get a R35 GTR, either the one from fujimi( there is a full engine detail one) or the tamiya one, or the very first GTR like mentioned above, I agree to on the LFA, all good kits.
Jonathan, I got this from reading reviews on Brians model car site. Good info there.
Some good info here guys, cheers!
I actually went against all recommendations in the end, and have gone for a Hasegawa Nissan 240ZG (S30 shape).
Richard That looks like a cool build. Have fun and post pics when you are done!

Here are all of the cars I have found that contain an engine. I went through another site that had a bunch of reviews and only added kits that reviewers specifically stated that the kit had an engine to assemble. Model #'s are to the side if I could find it.

I am excited about this one!

@Mike Thanks for the compliment! I think I just need to get everything mocked up and it will bring out more.
@Neal Thanks for the suggestion. I am going to try the fleck paint idea.
@Derrick Those figures are AWESOME!

OK here is my update. This was my first time airbrushing, ever! Please be gentle! I think I need to add some gray or something. The pics make this look really brown/tan. I used a gray primer, then Rust base coat, followed by a Tan and then a dust then a yellow green. Feels to blah. Any suggestions for texture/ a little more color? I was thinking about masking and maybe doing some camo stuff. Thanks guys!

I thought I had a full side shot of this one, but I can't find it right now.

WOW! There are some great looking cars here! I'll be posting an update soon. Just getting some rusty and dusty painting done!
