Don't want to start something if this guy was full of BS
  5. Any good train shop will have it, or can get it for you. Walters always stocks it. Or you can buy it directly from Weaver Models Regards, Ed
  6. No, I wasn't born with it.... Ed Croughwell Scalemodeler
  7. Scalecoat ll Wash away paint remover. I've tried them all, and this stuff is the only thing I use! Here is a previous thread about it. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51950 Regards, Ed
  8. Hey Doc That sounds about right... Everybody is getting squeezed these days. Especially in a tough economy. It's not so much the precentages off, but the sales volume, cost recovery and positive margin, so one can keep going. Regards, Ed
  9. I think.. but I could be wrong. It's not so much a "mark up" as it is a "mark down" Most wholesalers invoice retailers at MSRP. From there, the wholesaler will mark down the total invoice cost depending on how the retailer pays the bill. A different percentage comes off, if a bill is paid C.O D, 10 days or 30 days net due. Generally around 40 to 60 percent... I'm sure there are other formulas out there, especially for high volume buyers, But it is close to what the average stand alone shop does.
  10. I can send you a pic of the rears on the Outhouse if you think it may help ya!
  11. Revell's Rod Father... NAaaaa, just way too huge! Gotta love 'em!
  12. Cool ride Dude! Tell us more! How much bashing did you have to do? Love the wheels and tires... Monogram??
  13. Thanks for the kind words Pete! This issue was the one from !963/'64 era. Too bad Ertl changed the kit the way they did. I guess it was the thing to do back then.
  14. Thanks Jethro, The windshild trim is the kit's chrome, kinda cool. The headers were stripped of chrome, cleaned up... a lot! And I applied Alclad to them. Came out pretty good I think. OH, BTW Thanks for the Welcome to the foums And Same to you guy enjoy! Regards, Ed
  15. Charlie, Thanks so much for the invite! Actually I am aware of your club and fine show! Absolutely the best run event of it's kind in the area! Attended a few many years ago. I was a member of the Classic Plastic club for a while. About ten years ago I co-founded the North Shore Scale Modelers Club here in Peabody and have been busy with it ever since!
  16. I enjoy most everything about modeling. If I had a issue, it would be correcting something the manufacturer should have done in the tooling phase! I do a lot of the older kits, and of course, they are not up to today's standards. With the old kits, sanding, filling, scraping, fitting and fiddling is a way of life. So I'm used to it.
  17. Randy, For what it's worth, I have their Outhouse kit. IIRC they came out around the same time. The tires are no name vinyl slicks on the rear. The outhouse has bicycle jobbers on the front. Hope that helps. Regards, Ed
  18. Not sure yet, If I have some extra $$ I will. Don't want to be a kid in a candy store with empty pockets. If you know what I mean......
  19. Hey Terry Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm a bit north of you. On Massachusetts's North Shore
  20. Yea... was think'n about that. The collecters kinda get in the way though. When I build another one, I will know that, and pre-plan for it. Thanks for the kind words! Ed
  21. Here's an oldie but goodie! Great kit loved building it! Comment/criticism welcome. Regards, Ed
