  1. I was wondering if any has made body parts/ panels for there models. Im considering turning my 1998 Vette into a wide body but not really sure if it could be done with just styrene or if i would need anything really specific. Any/all comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
  2. So I've been on the prowl for ways to make Nitrous Bottles. I really couldn't find much and I didn't want to spend $6 for one off of EBay. Then the planning and emphasizing began. I took to the How Do I? Section of the fourm for some help. Given, there are some great ideas that was posted within my other forums (http://www.modelcars...showtopic=55326), I've found something that works best for me. I'll post pictures up later but for now I believe I can get the idea across. Materials Needed: -Plastic Hanger (Ones you hang clothes on in your closet) -Hobby Knife (BE CAREFUL!!) -Sand Paper (Range of grits/ 320 works good for me) -Pliers 1. Grab your plastic hanger. Using your pliers (or any other cutting tool to handle the thickness), CAREFULLY cut about a 3/4" to 1" piece of the hanger. 2. 9/10 you will have "Tags" on the ends. Use your Hobby Knife (again, CAREFULLY) to cut the tags and smooth the ends as much as possible. 3. Now use your sand paper to flatten one end and round the other end to imitate a bottle. Paint it blue and your good to go. I'm still in the process of trying to figure out some way to make a Valve for the top for a more realistic appearance. Any/ All ideas regarding this is greatly appreciated.
  3. Now that's a good idea. Could def. work. That being said. I think I found my NOS Bottle and I can make a bunch fairly quick with minimal effort. I was doing some laundry and noticed the roundness of my plastic hangers that I use. Time to break out the tool kit. So I got to cutting. After a little bit of work, I managed to make a NOS Bottle (Not the prettiest but it's a Proto-Type) by cutting a piece of the hanger to measure out about 3/4" give or take. Sanded one end flat, and rounded the other end to give it the bottle look. Slapped some Testors Blue Acrylic paint and put just a small white square on the bottle. Test fitted in a Viper GTS (Which on has 2 seats as we all know) and it fits pretty good for something done in 10 minutes. Another good thing about it is the hangers themselves have a hollow center which will make it easy to create attached tubing or adding a valve. I'm still searching for some way to make a valve. Sure I'll stumble upon something. I'll be doing a write-up for the Tutorial Section with picture for clarification. Any more ideas are greatly appreciated.
  4. That would be awesome. All I really need is just the idea and something to follow. I'm able to get to a lathe as well as lathe tools. It will be a little while before I really need them. Waiting for my Convertible Corvette to get here. Just trying to get my ducks in a row.
  5. I was also considering buying a Dow Rod (still unsure of size) to cat and sand down one end for the NOS Bottle. I'm sure I can find something to replicate a NOS Bottle with little to no modifications.
  6. Could work. I know for the brackets you could use layered tape colored/ painted black or w/e color. Imma do a mock-up @ work so hopefully I can figure something and do a write-up. Thanks for the input.
  7. I was curious is anyone has any ideas as to creating Nitrous Bottles? I was thinking maybe the parts of a pen (cut of course with a few modifcations to it) but I feel like it would be to small. I'm looking for something that has the valve so thta I can run tubing for a real effect. Any thoughts are greatly apprciated. Sorry if this Topic is in the wrong section. - Mikey
  8. Yea, I agree with you about the whole Rat Rod Viper idea. It is a little far fetched. I was considering making it a track car that went wildly out of control. Ill do some more thinking. Thanks for the input.
  9. Ok... First thing I'm new and dont know what to do (Joe Dirt Reference). Im posting this from my phone so forgive me for any misspellings. So I bought a Dodge Viper GTS Revell 1:25 model from EBay, only to find that my front bumber, headlights, and front/rear glass missing. So Im wanting to make a rat rod out of it but I honestly have no idea where to start or really what to do. Does anyone have any insight on this or it just a try stuff and go?
