I built this kit back in middle school when I wasn't so experienced or patient. It all came apart surprisingly easy and only had a few pieces break and not beyond repair. Plans include cleaning up all the edges, modifying the suspension to make it sit lower, a new paint job, and possibly a wheel change. any tips or suggestions are welcome and I would greatly appreciate it if someone had a pdf file of the instruction sheet for this kit.

looks like you're off to a great start. what kind of engine are you planning on using?

I won this on ebay a week or so ago as a parts lot for $4. Upon recieving it in the mail, I realized the truck is complete (I didn't care for the boat or trailer any way). The frame has already been glued and the engine has been started. I'm not sure on my plans yet, part of me wants to narrow the rear axle a tad so the wheels wont stick out and look funny like they usually do with this kit and change over to a big block. The other part of me wants to just build it box stock so I can say I've finished something. Any ideas?

thanks, I miss that truck, it got better gas mileage than my stock s10 somehow

I can't wait to see this thing finished!

I'm fairly new the to forum here and I've only posted 1 or 2 of my projects so I figured I'd post a link to my photobucket album so you could see my other projects along with some vehicles I've owned in the past and who knows what else. enjoy http://s1189.photobucket.com/albums/z428/Dweb7321/

34 ford rat truck

thanks for all the comments guys, sorry I haven't updated in a while. for now all I have are a few new mock up pics, I'm going a little more traditional with it. as you can see, I still have to modify my grill shell to get it to line up with the cab again. The bed floor still needs to be modified but you can see how much I shortened it and the cool moon tank I found in a parts box from when my dad built models as a kid in the 60's and 70's (side note: I also found an origional ed roth weird ohs dracula driving a coffin, and although it's broken some, it's mostly still there) and since I'm bored here's a few pics of my other current distractions from finishing anything -

I just won these goodies on ebay. plans include a big block, scratch built suspension and 4x4 front axle, a big honkin' front bumper/brush guard, and olive drab paint. I don't really care for the boat but it came with the deal. now I just have to wait for the mail man before I can get started. -

thanks for all the kind words guys. I'll try to update as often as possible Foxer- I can't take credit for the visor thing. thats the way the kit is made, everything lined up perfect after cutting and the visor went on just like it would on an uncut cab rmvw guy- I've noticed that too, it has the stance. I would love to make a replica of it but I could never pull it off, body paint is my achilles heel, thats why I seldom finish anything and a bare metal looking job would be impossible for me lol. I wouldn't know where to find those military wheels either. -

I love it. I've been wanting to build a bagged truck for a while. If your looking for options to make the bags I have a suggestion you could try, the little rubber cushions that hold the laser and motor in place in most portable cd players (most of us have at least one or two broken ones laying around) look just like a double convoluted bag with the top cup bracket already on. keep up the good work -
I love it, especially the stance. you can never go wrong with flat black and moon caps. that combo could make an AMC pacer look presentable

very nice build, I wish I had your patience when it comes to detail. I will be keeping my eye on this one

well I've made my final decision on the engine, I found a buick nailhead in the parts box from the 40 ford sedan delivery, it has all the parts but the three carbs (hopefully I'll find them soon). I know it's cliche but i think I'm going with a flat or gloss black paint job for the body with red or lime green wheels and accents. It's been done a million times but why mess with what works. more pictures to come when I get a little further along. -
I love it! Much needed inspiration for my 34 ford truck build.
