  4. Yea, the Carson top was the early version of the soft top, nah, not the vert, but a kustom metal base soft top, and I do believe his were the first, I think in the late '50s, and are still used today on kustomz, ya can google it under Carson top's, theres a world of info and pic's. I just gotta find the right padding, I have stuff, but kinda don't look right in scale, but I will find something.
  5. Just a few minor things, like the new tailights, and the front fender well's, glad I been doing this kinda stuff for over 30 years, I would say this is a wrap for the top. all the trim work will be chrome, or black, we'll see, but here ya go guys, thanx for hangin with me on this build, your feedback, is awesome:
  6. Still plenty to go, but just had to take a peek:
  7. OK, the pass, side roughed in, now on to the driver side, need to do something with the upper right pass door corner, might just round it out:
  8. Looks as if it worked just perfect, to me, now on to the sides, lose the drip rail, finish the kustom tail lights, and find something to cover the top.
  9. The start of a Carson style roof, maybe?
  10. Getting ready, with a lil prep work, for the new Kustom tail light's .
  11. OK, remember the other day of those shots I took of the stuff looking like brick morter, lol, well here is a shot of it with a lil work, I will take a few more before primer, but this is what makes building kustomz, the best, not only do ya get to to do kewl work, but you get to see it come to shape:
  12. Whew, here we are going a lil ol'scool, I'm now shaping, and forming, OH! but not like you think, no this is not a new form of putty, this is all plastic, and a lil bit of pro wield no, kinda neat huh? : As you can see, really rough stuff: But here you can see it starting to take a lil shape: After just a lil work: And yes sir, the front clip is offa the '49 Ford convert, one of the kustom option's.
  13. Well here we go, this is another full on Kustom, 1949 revell Merc, so stay tuned, Nothing but the cry'n now: The new grill, time to fit and shape, then to the rear:
  14. Dream Weaver's body now:
  15. got my micro lath from china, 199.99 out the door, 6 -n -1, works awesome, if I would just stop making left hand cutters, DOH!
  16. The Gypsy Queen, it will have all wood interior, to look like the captains quarters of a pirate ship, has a 6" scale sectioning, and will have a 6" scale wedge chop, with a 3" scale nose angle. Phantazy 6" scale wedge chop, with a 6" sectioning, interior will be diamond tuck.:
  17. Whew, Once again primed and ready for the new base, this time I will take more time, rushed, and had to pond it, then refill all the body lines, and what not to give it that rightous smooth look, few hours and it's off to base coat.
  18. Nah, life is kicking my arse, haven't had to much time to work on it, did however get the other '65 Impala stripped, and ready for it's kustom work, gonna try a few hours today.
  19. I'm in, going with this: Dream Weaver,
  20. Jason her is a pic of the inside, where I attached the straws, they are kinda flimsy, but once ya set the plug in, they get real stiff. I had a bad day in the booth, so I had to start the paint proccess all over, dang, there's a few hours I will never get back, but it's all good, this time it will come out better, thanx guys.
  21. FINALLY! first base coat, now to wet sand, then on to second base coat: Phase 2:
  22. Dupli Color all the way, can buy online, and in O'Rielys parts store, checkers, Schucks, and i know there's another parts store that has it but cant remember the name
  23. sorry guys been away from the bench, swamped with the bs of life, back to the bench here really soon. OK, Jason, sorry it has taken so long, hope i didn't lose ya, all ya gotta do is find straws just a tiny bit smaller then the opening, of the tail light, and you can also file the tail light holes just enough to kinda force the straw in, as for glue, just simple super glue, I would suggest using the gel, once set, prime, and see where you will need to smooth, and or fill, to fill I just use 3m spot putty, another trick, is if you want to french the head lights, just use the slurpy straws, or ?????. Thanx guys...
  24. Still have some lil adjustments to make, so a mild mock up of the frenched '59 kaddy bullets as tail lights, wont be able to do the centering till I get done with all her paint:
  25. OK, gang, here she is, in her first coat of primer, as u can see the frenching went very well, just a few things to clean up, soon as it sets up I will post with the tailights in
