  1. Masking tape is way too sticky. If you use low tac painting tape or Tamiya hobby masking tape it will not pull the paint up. Also with any tape if you put a clear or floor polish on before you tape it helps it come off as well. I tape and use all hobby acrylic paints for all aspects of my buil;ds and do two tones with no problem. If you use a high tac sticky masking tape it will pull paint off a wall. Switch tape and it will work just painting on the plastic. Masking tape is way too sticky. If you use low tac painting tape or Tamiya hobby masking tape it will not pull the paint up. 2. Thank you John. I have had no problems with yellowing. I have heard from some people that after like 20 years and left in sunlight they can go yellow but more people say thats not true that has used it for 50 years. My personal opinion on this is if you are a smoker and display your cars or leave them in direct sunlight would be the only way for them to yellow. Most of the people I talked to that claim they yellow were smokers in there home where they display. Any non smokers that use floor polish for 20 or more years have had no problems.
  3. This is good to know. Can you please give names of brands so I can watch out for them? So far every brand of craft paints I have used I have not had any problems. I am sure AK, Comart or Vallejo are not good with washer fluid / windex as they are already pre mixed for the airbrush. Thanks for any info on this.
  4. LOL. That was not a rerun. I own it on VHS, DVD and Blue Ray. Love that show. I have to order my Novus in from Micro Mark but what you have will work just as good.
  5. Hello Mark. Questions for you. First what are you using for your acrylic paint? what are you using to thin it? and what is your thinning ratio? second what air pressure are you shooting at? Do you have a moisture trap? I k now it's dry in Phoenix but right now may be humid. What is the airbrush and needle size you are using? All these are factors on problems. Knowing this info can help me try to figure out what is happening. It sounds to me like one: to much air pressure. two: paint to thin. three gun to close to part. I was wondering if you watched my video I posted above? It goes into detail to spray this stuff. I am assuming you did watch it and read comments here and tried some of the topics mentioned in this thread to help fix these problems before making your post. If you have not or missed it somehow please watch it and try my methods. If you still have problems come back and answer my questions above and I will see what I can do to help you figure this out. Best of luck.
  6. I tape off acrylics all the time. Just need to use a low tac painters tape or Tamiyal hobby tape. Masking tape is way to tacky and dries onto the paint allowing the paint to pull off. One thing that will help prevent the masking tape to pull is put a layer of gloss clear on then tape and don't burnish it down real hard. Instead, put another thin layer of clear down over the tape. This will seal the edges of the tape and keep the next color from bleeding under. If anything does bleed under then it will be clear and when you put on your main clear coat it will hide any clear as it is clear.
  7. James, before I paint I vacuum the area and vacuum my booth. I then add a bowl of water to my airbrush and mist the booth all over and around it. This eliminates as much as possible. I have two birds that fly around and a large dog as well so vacuuming is a must. When I paint my acrylics I use a hairdryer and within two minutes I can touch, handle and tape them and immediately after that I can paint next color. I can paint a main color. Tape paint a second color and then clear a body in less then two hours. Add another hour to polish it and it is done minus foil work of which I will have a vid up on that tomorrow. My paint booth is only designed to remove overspray and fumes of which with acrylics I have no fumes. The way I do any kind of trim paint work is I use acrylic craft paint and mix it with LA's mop & shine. 2 drops paint four drops mop & shine. I mix it well then put it on. Usually you just load a thin brush and touch a top corner and it will run down inside the channel. or you can run the brush along the channel. No taping at all. Let dry 20 minutes then wet a Q-Tip with tap water and roll it on a paper towel so it is moist, not wet. Then just rub off any excess trim paint. Very easy. I will be doing a tutorial vid of this and panel lines. shortly as well. If you have not yet go to my video above click on YouTube link in bottom right corner and you can visit all my video's I have. Some tutorials and other builds I have done. Any other question please feel free to ask. I hope this helps answer your questions.
  8. Here in the states there is Pledge Floor care (formerly future) and LA's Totally Awesome Mop & Shine. These are the only ones I have tried. Pledge costs $6.99 at Walmart for 32 oz (1 Qt) LA's Cost $1.00 at the dollar general, dollar tree etc...32 oz (1QT) Here is a pic of the Pledge. If you are in the UK it is called KLEAR and I have no price but is 946ml which is 32 oz (1QT) here.
  9. Part three of a series. Up next, aluminum foil for chrome trim.
  10. This is a video of how and what I use to spray acrylic paints. I am doing a vid right now on polishing the body after floor polish.
  11. Right on. Enjoy the Autorama and keep with it. Remember a test body does not need to be sanded or prepped. Just washed. Hope to hear some good news sometime soon.
  12. I am spraying right from the bottle at 15 psi with a medium tip an needle from an Iwata HP-C airbrush. Thanks for watching Armend.
  13. Try this. Get a cheap .59 cent 2 oz bottle of paint from Walmart or the cheapest you can find. Mix it with 2 oz of tap water. With four oz of paint you can paint 6-7 bodies. Get a test body and spray it like I did in the video. Light mist coats and let it build up as you turn the body around and around. Once you have complete coverage examine it. Any runs you got to close, any pools you went to slow. Now, go to the sink rinse it off with warm water. Dry and repaint it again. Inspect and rinse off. When you start to feel good about it do it some more. This is a cheap way to just shoot and shoot and shoot until you get it figured out. Watch how you spray and if you get a bad reaction then figure out a way to correct it. I bet by the time you use all the paint you will know how to do it. Good luck and keep me posted. Hold airbrush back and there may be some texture based on the paint used. When you clear it with floor polish it is self leveling so it fills in any divits from texture then levels out. When you polish it with a good polish like Novus or 3M it will cut down high spots. Then a good wax will fill in any divits in clear and make it a high gloss mirror finish. I will have the polishing video up today.

  20. Very similar. Great video bud! I use surgical blades and micro metal foil adhesive. Thanks for sharing and I am glad you enjoyed my first video. Applying floor polish is uploading right now. Stay tuned.
  21. This is the first in a series of how too's. Next will be how to apply floor polish for clear coat.
  22. The blue color has no effect at all. Not sure why but I thin my clear polyurethane with it and no hue at all.
  23. Bill, I used LA's Totally Awesome Mop & Shine acrylic floor polish on iy. It is a form of Future floor polish but MUCH cheaper with the same results. I get it at Dollar store or Dollar General. Thanks for looking.
