  1. Yes Robert, I agree with you. The yellow IH is very cool. I bought that one already built and the 2 hole buds and the bumper along with the plain Jane white mirrors instead of chrome is what sold me on it. Also when I was 14 or 15 my Uncle owned a cattle and horse feed mill and he had a couple of these 4300 and 4200's to haul bulk feed trailers. I did basic maintenance on them to earn a few dollars during summer months and since then Ive always had a soft spot for the binders.
  2. Thanks fellas ! My wife wanted me to paint the 377 purple along with a matching 48ft box trailer that goes with it.
  3. A few more. Peterbilt 359 wrecker. My build. I narrowed the wrecker bed 1/4 inch to lessen the overhang on the rear tandems. 377 Pete tractor
  4. Hi folks! I have been lurking on this forum for several years. You guys are most impressive with the models you display here. I may have posted a few pictures at one time, I don't remember but here are some of my collection. I built a few and bought some already built. They are not model show type models or any thing like that. I'm really just testing out my posting skills and I wanted to share my truck models with you guys. Here goes. KW 123 daycab my build IHC 4270F bought built IHC 4300 bought built Snowmans trailer my build Freightliner coe day cab. my build work in progress (5 years ago started)
  5. Hi All, I'm a GM guy but a Ford (Lincoln) made it into the fold as my wife's D.D.
  6. Hi George, I like your view on things. I too have heritage in Mexico. I consider myself 1/2 Tex Mex but all in all an American. I'm not a history buff although I have family members who are and they pretty much gave me this little bit of information. My mothers Great Great grandfather fought and died at the Alamo. Yes he was Mexican (Gregorio Esparza). There were 7 or 8 Mexican family's that fought with him along with the other more famous defenders of the Alamo. He was just a farmer who was trying to protect his farm land and its fruits from the Mexican government who wanted more than their fair share of what was his. He actually fought against his own brother who was part of Santa Anna's army. I guess my point is, there is a lot to be said for those who die or live for that matter, protecting certain freedoms and idealolgys that are bred into us as Americans.
  7. Its funny that folks would assume southerners would carry a loaded firearm. I mean after all what good would one be with no ammo. Seriously, I'm from southwest Louisiana and I really don't know anyone that does not carry some sort of protection with in arms reach at all times. Its been that way since long before I was born and will always be that way until big brother prys it from our icy cold lifeless grip. We are peace loving people but we don't take B.S. from those who are not.
  8. Thanks Jerry. I was looking at your fotiki photo's and noticed you had a little hurricane problem at one time. Was that that Katrina?
  9. Nice build there Doug. We have one almost identical running around here too hauling top soil.
  10. Thanks for the kinds words fella's. Also for your tip Tim. That makes good sense.
  11. Nice looking old White in the works. Any luck finding any of the White photo etched emblems? I have been looking for some myself but so far missed a couple on the "auction site", read that, was outbid both times. I have a hood conversion for the old White 9000 also, just need those pesky emblems.
  12. Here is a KW 123 cab cut down into a daycab and put on a shortend COE Areodyne frame. I had the original cab, grille and broken front bumber from my teen years and decided to make use of them. Used a little alclad on the fuel tanks and the front grille which the origianl chrome was long faded off. As you can see I was about 89% finished and set it aside to work on another. I'll get back to it soon though.
  13. Well, here goes. I used to build alot of truck models as a teenager over 25 years ago. Here is my first one since then. It may look as gimpy as they did then but it was big fun now that I stopped building the real stuff (hot rods mainly) due to high cost. I narrowed the bed and extended the front fenders. Also used nothing but super glue, and it shows. Hazed the painted surfaces and cab windows. Even tried my hand at BMF but the visor looks like it was crumpled up then half ass straightened back out with all its creases in the foil. Oh well, you live and learn.
  14. A few pictures of my old 69 SS 4 speed. After I fixed up like you see here, I sold it to a local who only shows it and never drives it. What a shame. It actually has a 427 cubic incher putting out about 575 horses to the rear wheels. Kinda of a sleeper (396 badges still on it.)
  15. A few photo's of an originally dealer prepped 68 SS 427 Elcam. Very low miles are still on this. Located in Houston TX.
  16. Very realistic looking truck. Nice Job.
  17. Very nice model. I am kinda partial to these "Old Boats" too as Dirk calls them. ( If one can run low 12's in the quarter and bury the 140 speedo on a straight stretch of interstate all day long with very little modification, I'll drive an old boat any day ). I happen to have a handful of MPC 69,70,71&72 G.P. models stashed away just hoping I will be able to build one that looks half as nice as yours.
  18. As James said, brake fluid will do it when all else fails. The only problem I found with brake fluid is when stripping plastic that has already been glued. Sometimes, (not all the time) it will disolve the glue and some plastic where old glue has contacted the plastic. This can be helpful by allowing parts previously glued to come apart easier but you might have to use putty to rebuild what is disolved from a joint line or seam. Don't use brake fluid on resin parts unless your into making a gooey mess out of your resin.
  19. Castrol Super Clean (big purple jug) located in automotive dept. of any Walmart or Westleys Bleach White Work good also. They don't have the high caustic content as oven cleaner but they will defat your skin (dry it out) if you don't use rubber gloves. I just happen to be dechroming a bunch of parts from an original Pete 359 California Hauler when I opened up this forum. I just used the purple stuff and it worked in about ten minutes, just rinse parts off in water and your good to go.
  20. Well I just have to chime in here on your flame job too. I really like um. Great job on the build, did I mention I like the flames. COOOOOOL.
  21. Very Nice Looking Pete. I used to work for Schlumberger in south Louisiana ( Sounds like Slumberjay ) back in the eighties. Black and Orange must have got burned into the brain somehow. The old halloween trucks were all over the roads down here for a long time.
  22. Looks real to me, That might be a reflection of a flag on the windsheild from a truck show in Europe.
  23. I happen to have the J-bot decals and a resin WT cab your refering to here. I just need to get polished up on my skills as Iv'e only built 4 trucks since I got back into the hobby after a 25 year break. I'd hate to mess up such a fine chunk of resin by getting impatient. Rob
