  1. I wouldn't have courage to actually put this model to race. It's so perfect.
  2. Thanks for that info Jim. Great to know that tool box is part of the kit, but now I wish I had the display stand. The radio antenna was a parts box item, I had to sand the base to fit the Ranchero's fender shape. The model came with one, but it was broken, and only the base was glued to the fender. I was thinking about geting a kit, and building it with the correct stock parts, but if it doesn't come with the wheels, etc, the end result wouldn't be much different from what I did with the built model. I heard something about a newer ranchero model coming from Trumpeter, but I'm not sure if it's a fact, anyway, that's a model I would love to own!!
  3. Sorry about the bad names, I know I wasn't suppose to say so many times the word Chevy...
  4. Yes, I know about that detail, thing I got over exited with the silver paint, and since I havan't a Ford six and went with a hot roded V8, I kind of thought "flat black... Nah, let's ad some bling!!" hahahahaha. Since I did the rebuild on this one, I noticed some kits of FoMoCo cars only have a SBC as motorvation. That has to be part of the world SBC conspiracy!!!!! I bought a Monogram '32 Ford kit, the one on the "classic cruiser" series, and the thing only came with... Guess what? Anyone? Yesssss A SBC!!!!!! Ande the box said "Official Ford Licenced Product" Do I have to say I got really pissed? I remember thinking "I swear I'm gonna buy a 1:1 '57 Chevy, swap a FORD Y-Block 292 with a Ford-o-matic and put a sticker on the rear window saying: Fixed this thing!!!" I have nothing against Chevys, not at all, but a scrub, sorry, Chevy engine belongs in a Chevy.
  5. I liked the SOHC motor, and also the color is very nice. Can never go wrong woth FORD!!!
  6. Thanks!! That tool box, well it was inside that box with the built models, and to be 100% honest, I can't tell from what kit it came from, but I just gave it some Testors acrylic blue, and some silver detailing. The steel wheels came from a AMT '40 Fors. The tires are from a toy car, since the ones from AMT and Revell I have to spare were all too big.
  7. This baby was among lots of other models inside a box of built kits I got from a friend. It was painted white and the apint was coming off. The engine, was a Chevy small block, and wheels were alloy aftermarket. First thing I decided to get rid of the non FORD engine, and swaped a 351 Windsor from the parts box. Then, got rid os the alloys, in favor of steel wheels, with white line rubber around, and baby moon dog dishes. After the brake fluid did it's thing on the old paint, I gave the body some coats of Tamiya Bright Mica red. Tell me what you think, and be mean if necessary:
  8. I wish it was mine!!! A friend of mine, from California found it, and posted on the comments of one of my Flickr photos. I was really amazed by the work done by that guy, he actually casted the engine block in metal, Can't even begin to imagine the work involved. Thanks Dr,Cranky!! MY greetings to the Lab-RAT-ory
  9. Uh La La !!!!! She's an old stripper, maybe a little used and abused, but she has her pride...And lot's of Dollar bills!!!!
  10. Not only the car looks awesome, but the diorama too. I liked all the small scratchbuilt detail, both on the car and on the set, not to mantion I love golden cars.
  11. I have the '56 Chevy from Revell, it's a good kit, but that's a pillared Del Ray Chevy, and I wanted a hardtop to stand aside with my old AMT '57 Chevy hardtop. I also don't like the Revell's kit separate trim because I think it gives the model a toy-ish appearence.
  12. What about a big scale Jeep model, all scratchbuilt, with amazing precision...in brass!!!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/modelsnprops/ WOW!!!!!
  13. Thanks folks, I really love the results Tamiya paint gives. About the humidity, well, I live in Florianópolis, that's an island. Humidity here is not low, buta also not that high. I only had problem when tried to spray Tamiya paint on a very cold and rainy day, other than that, I naver had any trouble. maybe the primer can be the issue here, I use no pimer, just spray the paint on bare plastic.
  14. Looks great, the paint is like glass!! I would just rework the wipers.
  15. Thanks!! I thought people would find the color scheme odd.
  16. Felix, Darren and Craig, thanks a lot!! Ben, is your kit the Revell edition from 2007? That's the one I have, and came with the wrong tires. The Monogram kits have the correct ones. You can still assemble it stock even with the incorrect 1960's tires, but you will have to cut the tires to accept the whitewall inserts, or just to paint the whitewalls.
  17. By the way, if someone is thinking about buying a 1/12 Chevy kit to build it stock, stay away from the Revell "50th Anniversary" edition of the kit, as it comes with the wrong stock tires. The tires I used are from a 1986 vintage edition of the kit, at the time released by Monogram. The tires Revell inclued are the ones from the '69 Camaro Z-28 kit and are not only incorrect for a 1957 car, they donet have the recess to receive the plastic whitewall inserts that do come with the kit. The old Monogram kits have better overall quality as well, and are an easy find on e-Bay.
  18. Some pictures of the build:
  19. I like it, you can never go wrong with black.
  20. Thanks!!! I love this color combo, but never saw any '56 using it, and I go to lots of car shows. Don't know in the States, but here in Brazil, I never saw one in red and black.
  21. I built this one in an unusual color combo for a '56 Chevy, but I love the red and black combination!! The kit is a Monogram '56 Chevy, it's old, and don't have much detail, but I gave it a try anyway. The paints on the body are Tamiya Italian red and Tamiya black, both straight out of spray cans. The only detais I added were a wiper motor, a brake master cylinder, a better battery, a antenna and a rear view mirror. The rest is box stock, including the Corvette V8 with the "bat wing" air cleaner. Other than that, I just fixed the headlights, that had that tab on the center, what made they look like eyeballs, and I also dislocated the frame about 1/4" foward. Hope you guys like it.
  22. Can finish one ortwo???????????? Are you kidding???? I wish I could finish one or two like that!!!!
  23. Thanks!! I just couldn't resist saving it, it's such a great looking car.
  24. I'm kind of biasedto talk, since I'm a complete junkie over the '57 Fors, but this looks very, very good!!! I loved it. I liked the cool details, like the painted grille molding, and the half painted half foiled side trim, that's neat!! The only thing I would do is to add a set of custom plates, and go cruising...
  25. For the body, I decided to use Tamiya TS-15 blue, as I wanted a contrasting colors efect. and here is the completed resto:
