Xploited Posted March 31, 2015 Share Posted March 31, 2015 (edited) Another off the bench and under glass this was a pretty fun build by the end I was pretty unmotivated to finish it due to running into issues with not letting primer dry long enough and putting heavy coats on to try and hide the window trim I messed up , I started but cutting the top and takeing out about 4mms, I dont have any putty or bondo so I decided to use my CA glue to fill, it worked for the most part but took a day to dry , once dried I sanded it flat , in the process I sanded down the ridge around the top that simulates the vinyl top to simulate that someone cut it out and filled it with sheet metal; this worked out great but in the process I also sanded off the drip edge and most of the window trim this is where I got very discouraged and just wanted to get it done. I scratch built the velocity stacks out of brass stock; ruined a few in the process but in the end I really know what im doing now lol , and the ingntion coil was made from soldier and some shrink wrap painted , I attempted to make the connections between the carbs and it looks alright but not anything like I was hopeing. For the most part this was a lot of new technics I was trying and some turned out better then others . Xploited Posted March 31, 2015 Author Share Posted March 31, 2015 I used 1/4" brass tube ,Cut your brass tube to whatever size you want, I used 6 mms for the length, then take a screw; you can use a deck screw or dry wall screw and a peice of flat metal ( mine was a curtain hanger flattened out). Now you slide your peice of tubeing onto the screw and screw into the metal peice into a scrap peice of wood the metal is there so you don't go into the wood and keeps your peice of brass flat , once you start screwing into the wood, the brass tube it will make a flange. You can also use a machine screw and a nut and make like a sandwich with the peice I didn't have the right machine screws so I just used the deck screw Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
