zaina Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 (edited) I needed something to pull the D8 so I decided to pull this out Of the stash. I added 2" to the frame and am planning somewhat of a custom. Here is the inspiration and the build. Edited April 4, 2015 by zaina
Petetrucker07 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 That is an awesome inspiration truck. Are you gonna lower the truck? Need any pointers? Let me know.
tbill Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 yes indeed, your inspiration truck is drop dead cool! look forward to seeing this come together.
Truck parts Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 That's going to be a sweet build. I love the real truck
zaina Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 Thinkin about doing this to the front fenders for a custom look. What do you guys think? Also made up some rear fenders from some pill bottles.
Petetrucker07 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 That looks way cool. If want to lower the front a little, just cut the axle blocks off. Then shave the the air bags a little on the front drive axle, just enough to get the rear wheels back on the ground. Or you can look at my KW. I slammed it by cuttin the springs off, flipped them over like a de-arched spring then cut the air bags.
just-bill Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 (edited) Good idea on the pill bottle fenders. Edited April 4, 2015 by just-bill
Truck parts Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's going to be a sweet build.
#1Volsfan Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Looking good! Really like what you have done with the fenders. Have you given any thought about extending the hood Andy? Anyway you have my attention and I can't wait to see the finished product.
zaina Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Thanks for the comments guys. I won't be extending the hood even though I know it would look better. If I did I would never finish it. I did however decide to lower it. I ended up dropping it a strong 1/8". Looks much better now. I also started smoothing out the roof...no clearance lights or horns.
Petetrucker07 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Now your talkin. Lowered, no cab lights, custom rear fenders. Yeah buddy. Are you gonna make a drop visor or buy 1 from Rhino's Truck Parts? How about stacks?
gatorincebu Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 I like the model building skills you are using here. And while this kind of custom/show truck is not my thing, I can still appreciate them. As for hauling a dozer with it. Good luck when you have to deliver it a few miles off the paved road!! Be Well Gator

How about stacks? I planned on making a visor. Is there a website for rhino truck parts? I couldn't find anything.
Petetrucker07 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 He's on facebook and ebay. Here's his ebay items. http://m.ebay.com/sch/rhino9905/m.html?_pgn=1&isRefine=true
zaina Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 Got the lowboy painted today and some wood cut for the bed. I will stain the wood to make it darker. I want to put red and white reflective tape down the side...does anyone know where to get some?
zaina Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 The tape is on ebay from time to time. Found it and got some on order.
Petetrucker07 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Awesome. Your probably gonna get 2 rolls. I've done 4 trailers and still on the 1st roll. Great start on the unit here. I like the wood. That will look awesome once you get it stained.
Bad Nickle Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Quick question, what kind of pill bottles did you use for the fenders if you don't mind. I love the idea and would like to copy it Sam
kilrathy10 Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 This is looking mighty good, Man....Great job, so far.....Great idea.....
