Johnt671 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 I'd like to hear from any that has built this kit to see how it built and came out, and what if any problems with it. I enjoy the challenge of working out problem areas on kits, but this car is important to me. I bought this kit over 30 years ago, as it was one of my favorite cars back in the day. I also raced Chaparral 1/24 slots for a while. It's important to me to not screw anything up on this kit as I doubt that I could find the parts to replace anything I do screw up. I started this kit years ago and messed up on the paint, but now I know how to strip the paint off so I can repaint it. Thanks for looking.
Draggon Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 The doors were real fussy. I don't remember if it was how they hinged, or how they fit closed, but I wasn't too happy about it. Good luck!
unclescott58 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Does anybody offer a Chaparral 2E 1/24th or 1/25th scale model kit today? Or any other of the winged Chaparrals for that matter. Scott
RancheroSteve Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 This is the only other choice for the Chaparral 2E that I know of: http://www.fishermodels.com/product/chaparral-2e-usrrc-can-am-124 A curbside and not cheap, but Fisher makes an excellent product. They also do the 2F Coupe.
Crazy Ed Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Hi John There's plenty of the old IMC/Union Chaparal 2E's still floating around out there and parts kits appear on ebay on a fairly regular basis. You are going to want to secure a set of Weber Carbs for the engine. The IMC/Union kits come with 8 separate flaired "tubes".
Johnt671 Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Thanks for the tips. I have a few Webers in my parts box, but maybe I'll look into a resin maker for some extra nice ones. Good to know that kits can be found on E-Bay if I mess up.
