Heres some pics of a car I built about 15 years ago. It's deeply personal for me, as Davey was my absolute favorite driver, and racing hasn't meant nearly as much to me since his passing. It's actually the 2nd one I built, the first one I built as a teenager, but I always thought I could do better. I ended up dismantling the first one for parts, some of which I used on this one. I built the window net with a kit I bought, I think from detail master. Built the seat harnesses and used a photo etch set for buckles and window clips. post-15486-0-37508500-1428527004_thumb.jpost-15486-0-19703800-1428527013_thumb.jpost-15486-0-65449400-1428527022_thumb.jpost-15486-0-05792900-1428527046_thumb.jpost-15486-0-28116200-1428527057_thumb.jpost-15486-0-28116200-1428527057_thumb.jpost-15486-0-53857400-1428527088_thumb.j

Nice. Loved that 28 Ford.

Davey was one of my favourites too... wonder what Nascar and the stats ook would look like if he was still alive?

Yes- I've often wondered how many championships he'd have won, as well as races. I don't think Robert Yates racing would've went off the skids like it did either. I'd like to build the white T-Bird in the future to go along with it. I looked, and they se to be plentiful online. Thanks for your comment.

Cool! I built one of these around the same time and age. I still have some of his lugnuts from a race I went to. If you would want to display one with the model I think I could part with one.

That would be so awesome, but I'd hate for you to part with it.

Great looking model. i remember so well when he died...

Yes- for me it was one of those JFK, Bear Bryant and 9-11 type moments. I remember exactly where I was on the road when I heard it on the radio. And this was after worrying about him all night of course.

This a good looking model .Well done.

The Ford gang lost two very good drivers in a short time. With Davey and Alan gone it was hard to watch for awhile .

Outstanding build and tribute to Davey - well done sir! I've got 2 of this kit and 2 of the earlier white/gold/black kit that I've been hesitant to build cause I want my skills to be up to the task of making them great. I became a nascar fan as Davey was coming to prominence and he quickly became my favorite. Always smiling, always pleasant - but also a fierce competitor who wasn't afraid to lay the chrome horn to anyone. Not ashamed to say that of all the movie stars, rock stars, racers, people of notoriety, that have died in my lifetime - his was the only death that I broke down and cried over. Excellent build - thanks for sharing!

I have a handful of them. It would be great to give someone one that would do more with it than leave them in a drawer with all the other hardware. If you're interested send me a pm.

Nice build! I bought mine back in the day before he died and never finished it. I was a big fan. I still have it. This makes me want to finish it. Great job.
