Petetrucker07 Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) Back at the bench finally. Been a long week. I threw a little primer on it today. I started sanding on it per Tim's instructions, to cheat it into a 379. Kurts remastered 255s look awesome on this. I also bought some Tamiya Chrome Yellow today. Tomorrow I might try it out with the green to see how it looks. Edited May 3, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Petetrucker07 Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 Next I'm gonna do a little putty work, filling the uneeded holes. Then I'll start measuring to cit in the back window. Oh, almost forgot to cut the wing windows out.
Chu Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 It's turning beautiful Clayton I looking forward for more updates!!!
Petetrucker07 Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 Thanks man. I'm really trying to take my time and really do my best. I cut the wing windows out and altered the windshield per Tim's suggestion.
Petetrucker07 Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 You are too kind man, I really do appreciate the compliments. I laid some putty down before I step away from the bench for the night. I filled the horns, the kit air breather, the kit lube finer and the first round of putty on the back of the cab. Oh, forgot I filled the turn signals on the fenders.
Tesla Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 This is looking terrific Clayton! Nice progress. The Tamiya chrome yellow is a good choice. Those tires look super!
truckabilly Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Nice job on "cheating". But you should also get rid of the wide stripe on top of the hood. That´s typical for 359 but 379 has much simpler spine-like mold on top. Just a suggestion.
Petetrucker07 Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) Thanks Dennis. I got out an old body that will never get used to try out the paint. I'm not too sure about it. It seems a bit dark in the sunlight compared to the real truck in the sun. But it looks almost spot on to the real deal inside. Tell me what y'all think. Edited May 3, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Petetrucker07 Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) While I'm waiting for the putty to cure, I started on the interior. I took the dash out of an Italeri Pete. I'm gonna modify it to fit the Revell tub, hopefully. I hope it comes out lookin close enough and like I just cut something up. Tell me what you think. Edited May 3, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Petetrucker07 Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) I'm hoping to get close to this. This is the interior of the real truck a few years ago. The last time I saw this truck in person, it had a painted to match aluminum floor, yellow and green flames. I'm gonna take a little creative freedom on the dash. I'm gonna paint the gauge and switch panels green with the dash being yellow. Edited May 3, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Petetrucker07 Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) I sprayed some green onto that body. I can't use this yellow. It looks to much like CAT yellow, which is too dark. Back on the search. Here's the engine painted the Tamiya yellow. Looks way too close to CAT yellow. I'm gonna spray some Tamiya pearl clear over it, that should change the tone, that and the real engine is yellow pearl. Edited May 3, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Petetrucker07 Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 A little more done to the interior tub. I cut the seat boxes off. This allows the seats to sit on the floor. The 1:1 has Bostrom Wide Ride Lowriders in it. The last truck I drove had those seats in it, they are really nice seats, I miss that seat.
gatorincebu Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) It is a shame that that yellow is not working out for you. I kinda like the yellow and green together. Your new dash looks very good. Be Well Gator Edited May 9, 2015 by gatorincebu
Petetrucker07 Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) Thanks Gator, I'm not done with the interior yet, another process. The color combo did look nice together. It just didn't fit this build. Edited May 4, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Petetrucker07 Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 I got the paint mask in today from Lazy Modeler. They look great and should work out perfect, with a little modification.
Bad Nickle Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Try Daytona yellow. You can get it at auto zone it's the big can high temp engine paint. Just a suggestion! I used it on a superbird build and it looks pretty close to your picture. Sam
fantacmet Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 For the yellow try the Krylon Shortcuts in the little cans. Called Sun Yellow, I think it's a MUCH closer match.
chunkypeanutbutter Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 How do you plan on doing the flamed interior panels?

I'm also gonna go by Napa and see how much it would cost to custom mix a color and put it into an aerosol can.

Petetrucker07 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 How do you plan on doing the flamed interior panels? Been thinkin about. Probably body putty carved. I'm open to suggestions. Also, has anybody opened the doors on one of these snappers? Forgot to post a pic of the mask. The mask will need some modifying.
