Petetrucker07 Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 Need a picture with daddy's little helper at the bench, gotta start young or he'll figure out what video games are first....lol. Hope all's well Rich I hope he takes after me in that sense. My wife really likes video games. I do not like them. Today he was actually in his bassenette next to me while I was working on the trailer for my Volvo.
Petetrucker07 Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 I should be back on this some time this week. I'm going to work on the floor and get the rear window cut out in the right spot this time.
Petetrucker07 Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 Since I had a set back with the Volvo build, I pulled this out sooner than I had expected. I was curious how much lower this is compared to a box stock, so here's a pic.
Petetrucker07 Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 Thanks. I'm hoping the motivation bug will bite soon. I'd like to finish this by September.
Petetrucker07 Posted August 30, 2015 Author Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) NOW HEAR THIS! I had to hire an archeological team to dig this thread up for me. I actually put some putty on this this morning. I have about 2 weeks till the contest . I'm not gonna push this to get done by then, but if it happens it happens. I hope gettin a little putty on the fingers was enough to ignite the motivation Edited August 30, 2015 by Petetrucker07

If it's not done in time, it's no big deal
gatorincebu Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Clayton, Good for you ! Back at the bench. You've had a major life altering event in your life ( the birth of your son ). Your model groove will come back, just give it time and don't push it. I hope you can finish this for the contest. But remember the most important thing, this is a hobby. Don't go stressin over a contest and trophies.Enjoy your new role in life as a Dad !! Be Well Gator
Petetrucker07 Posted August 31, 2015 Author Posted August 31, 2015 Thanks Dennis. Seems this summer has slowed a few builders. But, now it's cooling off, it's a little more bearable to be outside. That and the paint doesn't dry before it hits what I'm painting. Thanks Gordon. I'm really lookin forward to seeing this done, whenever that'll be.Thanks Gator. That's exactly what I've been doing in my free time, spending time my son. I think now I can start gettin a little modeling in while he's nappin. I doubt I'll get this done for the show. I've got other builds that need to prepped to go. Maybe after the first of the year this can make its show debut.
Old Buckaroo Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Seems this summer has slowed a few builders. But, now it's cooling off, it's a little more bearable to be outside.“One must maintain a little bittle of summer, even in the middle of winter.” ― Henry David ThoreauClayton this is a very informative thread for making a "po boy" 379 . Did you ever complete this truck - I am curious on how the flame mask worked out.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 Still sittin how the last pic show. There's so much to this, it's kinda daunting. But it'll get goin forward again eventually. Same for my 367, 389 and a few others.“One must maintain a little bittle of summer, even in the middle of winter.” ― Henry David ThoreauClayton this is a very informative thread for making a "po boy" 379 . Petetrucker07 Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 Funny you say "Po Boy", now I'm hungry!
Superpeterbilt Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Funny you say "Po Boy", now I'm hungryThere are po-boys in California? Please tell me there not full of avocado and alfalfa sprouts.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 22, 2016 Author Posted January 22, 2016 Oh no no no. French fries, mozzarella sticks, bacon, and more. Real things man. I'm sure the Foo Foo ones are out here, I just don't know where.
Old Buckaroo Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I want to move to North Carolina as they have "Bojangles' Famous Chicken 'n Biscuits" I never could drive by one without stopping while on vacation this past Summer.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 Since this thread got dug up, I may as well get it out and see where I left off. Maybe have an update for y'all by the end of the weekend.
cowboy rich Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Glad to hear it Clayton, a few parts on the table should quite those hunger grumbles.
Old Buckaroo Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Clayton - I have read through this several times. May I make a suggestion - I would really go with some .010" or .015" styrene to do your in cab flames. Easier to work with and it wont have that over thick look to it. You might even consider another mask and just use it painted up ..
Petetrucker07 Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 I had many issues with the putty. I messed with it most of the afternoon and evening and couldn't get the results I was lookin for. I revisit the putty on another build. So I scratched up a set. I used .03 sheet for the main part of the panel. I used .01 for the flames. Glued the two pieces together then sanded the edges of the flames to round and smooth them out a bit. I still need to cut another piece of stainless for the top of the panel. I'm gonna use the process for the floor and hopefully the ceiling. Sean. That's exactly what I did. Made a .03 main panel, then used .01 to cut out the flames. I wanted to have some depth to the panels and floor. I did consider using a mask.
Petetrucker07 Posted January 23, 2016 Author Posted January 23, 2016 Here it is, as it's bennyg sittin since I last left. I did make a new floor that fits the area and covers the voids from opening the doors. I'm gonna work on the back of cab first I think, get it smoothed, then cut out the window.
