Stole the air compressor from a Peterbilt and added a large spoked pulley

Found some carbs which might work, size-wise anyway.

Now I have to find or make two 6 cylinder distributors.

I combined the V16 oil pan with one found in the junkpile to get something relatively close to to the 702's.

Found a bell housing of the right size in the junkpile and attached that to the rear of the block.

Started work on the distributors. Marked & drilled some round rod.

Added wires and itty bitty little sleeves to make it look like it has boots.

Gave the engine a shot of primer to get away from the multiple textures and colors.

Donovan, it will be in a GMC B-7000 which has a butterfly hood similar to the Ford N600.On the Ford, I made the hood panels removeable. I'm considering making the whole hood tilt, which would be incorrect of course but you could see the engine better. We'll see.

The 702 runs two distributors on a common drive. The setup looks like this.

I made the drive out of a stepped screw from an old typewriter, put a plastic sleeve on it as the body and the distributors will mount to that.

Thanks Terry. Here they are with the harnesses trimmed and positioned. The white part on the distributors is way too long. I'm going to have to shorten that.

Shaped some rod on the drill press to make coils. Started attaching the straps.

Thanks guys. Using a method found on the forum here, I attempted to make flanges for the exhaust manifolds. The first ones were way too big so I did them again with smaller stock.

I used my original "too big" fuel pump to make the oil filter bracket.

Started to modify the carbs to look more like those in the picture. Extended the air horns and added an oblong part to the side.

Thanks Carl. that is exactly what I'm doing. I used the same approach when I rebuilt my '34 Chevy. Many sub assemblies to become a whole. I think it is the only way to combat ADD and not get overwhelmed. As far as masterpiece, well.... I think Donovan's will be more like it.

So she's pretty well done. I need to do several touch-ups, paint the air filter elements and add the proper valve covers. I am satisfied with the outcome. It does look a bit like a 702.
