jeff f Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I'm just getting started on an AMT pro street nova. After some arm twisting I was talked into building it for a close friend we'll call Grandpa. It is going to be a sister car to my purple 67 Chevelle. First priority , wheels and tires. I used Revell try 5 wheels and there Firestone pro street tire . The pics pretty much show the process .
johnbuzzed Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 For just wheels and tires, that looks really nice.
dragboatsteve Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Looks like your off to a great start. Do you have a post for your Chevelle up yet?
jeff f Posted April 25, 2015 Author Posted April 25, 2015 Hi Grandpa, the Chevelle is in the Under Glass posts. This Nova will differ from it in these areas, an eight stack big block, gold or copper color and gold line tires.
dragboatsteve Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Also, I cant find your home phone number so call me so I can write it done again. I cant find the hugger hoods , I hope I didnt sell them with one of the open Nova kits. Will keep looking for them. I need to get rid of some BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH so I know what I got. GP
jeff f Posted April 26, 2015 Author Posted April 26, 2015 Had a little spare time to play. I'm using an old body for mock up purposes. I switched to the 55 hardtop wheels same as the 67. Now it's time to stuff the chassis under it . Thanks for looking in. Jeff
exesivefire Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 It looks like you chucked the tire in a lathe to cut the centers, how do you control the Xacto during that?
jeff f Posted April 26, 2015 Author Posted April 26, 2015 Hi Andy , thanks for your interest . I steady the blade movement with my fingertip and just plunge in. Start with a smaller dia than your shooting for. Measure and adjust X axis.
jeff f Posted April 30, 2015 Author Posted April 30, 2015 I've been looking at eight stack injection systems and desided that the manifold in the AWB kits are not correct. They direct the flow into the lifter galley, not angled into the cylinder head. So going to try and fab one up.
jeff f Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 I finished up the manifold , then made the trumpet stacks out of 3/32 alum. tube. Each set are opposed 10 degrees from each other. I had a custom 60 degree dovetail cutter made to do the under cut. I think it looks more representative of the 1/1 part. Thanks for the comments and time . Jeff
johnbuzzed Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Very nice project! That intake looks beautiful. Indeed. I'm looking forward to more.
