AzTom
This is my next project now that I'm finally getting my shop back together. 1/18 scale diecast 41 Willys. This is going to be a simple repaint and some small detailing. Edited August 3, 2015 by AzTom
AzTom
First thing was to get rid of that ugly orange on the blower.
Junkman
I am seriously looking forward to this, since I have a similar project in my mind.My tip: Ditch that engine and get yourself a blown Big Block from GMP.Because that's what I'll be doing. AzTom
That's too easy, lol I did that on the last one. I did some more detailing on the engine tonight. My next one is going to be convert it back to stock. I have a flat four from a Willys Jeep hat should work. Here is my last one with realistic door hinges. http://public.fotki.com/aztom/toys--models/die-cast-118-cars--/118-custom-diecast/custom-1941-willys/ Edited May 2, 2015 by AzTom
Junkman
That hinge thing is bloody brilliant! I like the idea of a stock one, but how would you go about bumpers and wheels?
AzTom
Thanks on the hinges. I'm changing the rear bumper on this one so I can use it on the front of the stock one. The wheels will be from a Henry J.

AzTom
Thanks David. I got the body clear coated and the chrome back on. I also blacked out the chrome window trim as it should be rubber only.
Junkman
Fantastic. Do you use any primer on these? If yes, which kind?
Harry P.
I like that color on that car.
AzTom
I do. I normally use Dupont Self Etching but I have used other brand with success. On bare diecast it is a must to use self etching as the first coat. I finished it up except for the rear license plate. I have some 1/18 AZ plates made but need to find them. Thanks for looking. Thanks Harry.

High octane
Real nice job on that Willys. That so called "push bar" really is a tube to be filled with ballast to add weight to the rear end of the car. Gassers were street legal and had to have a starter. They did not allow push starts like on the early dragsters of the 50's & 60's.

AzTom
The color is Silver Blue Metallic # 28145 from the Model Masters Lacquer System. I used Dupli-Color acrylic lacquer clear coat. Both are rattle cans.
