I’m thinking of doing a gritty late ‘60s-early ‘70s street freak/street racer that’s only barely street legal. Glass packs exiting ahead of the rear tires would be perfect for this down ‘n dirty hot mess. What kits have/had them?

No aftermarket, please—this will be a CHEAP project using just leftover junk I have on hand. I’m sure I have glass packs in some kit(s) somewhere in the stash, but can’t think of which ones they might be. Anyone just happen to recall any kits with glass packs?

Revell 32 Ford 3 window. the one w/ the black car on the box. Those were glass packs. Although the pipe is a little puny. Heck even the new release of the 32 Ford 5 window should have the same exhaust as an option.

Hey Snake,

Where is Styrenestan again? I know that I have

been there before, but can't recall location. LOL!!

If you need parts just PM me, I have tons of parts

here for you. No sense picking them kits apart now!

Grab a few old magazines, check the ads, and scratch your own. Those companies often had full-page ads with nice big color pictures, so you can get the colors right too. A lot of the AMT Street Rods series kits had header mufflers, but those were usually generic looking.

If I'd wanted to do that, I wouldn't have posted the question.

The Revell '50 Ford F-1 2N1 kit has about the nicest set of glass pack mufflers I've seen. This is the closest thing I have of a photo of them.

Two basic types to consider. 910-13106_L%5B1%5D.jpg61dp%2BpU7C9L._SX522_.jpg

I had the red type in mind, but if it comes to it, shouldn't be too hard to scratch up the blue kind out of aluminum tubing.

Thanks to all for the various suggestions. You've mentioned a few kits I have in the stash--will have to check those out.

I also remember "Corvair Turbo" mufflers being popular for such use in the time period of interest, so that's another possibility.
