James2 Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 the axle will still end up under the radiator. That should yield the exact location!
Dirty Dave Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 New frame built with buggy-sprung drop axle up front. (old frame in background).
MuellerFace Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 I wish I could bend styrene that well. I've tried several times to make my own drop I beam.

Some have interesting curves on them that you can use for all sorts of things, especially tube axles and giant exhaust pipes. If you're going the scratchbuilding route, make one side then base the other off of it. It's best to use soft stock for it.

Dirty Dave Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 If I can make a little time this evening, my plan is to build the steering knuckle/steering arms so that it looks a bit more like a real axle. Not going to go for poseable steering, this time around.
Dirty Dave Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 A little progress: Started making top bows for the folding (hopefully) top. And the low rear 3/4: Once I set final ride height, I'll clearance the body for the axle tubes and QC center section.
