From what I have gathered, the Alaskan Haulers were custom built by Kenworth for Hill & Hill Transport specifically for the Alaska Pipeline project. They were 1973 W900 with a either a wife nosed or narrow nose severe service hood. They also had the cold weather intake that took warn air from around the engine, ran it through the air cleaner then into the cylinders. I think it was called a Canadian Intake (or something like that).

I do not believe they were used in the lower 48, although there is a wrecker in LA that is an old Alaskan Hauler.

This thread stirred me to do a bit of googling on KW Alaskan Haulers,.found this beast..may be unrelated... caption said it was a 1965 KW 884C w a V10 Cummins..never seen a truck w/ a front end like this, maybe the V-shape is for two radiators? Later vintage headlights, looks like. Really unusual..

Yes, the front is pointed because it has dual radiators. There are a few large off highway models that had that front end.

Sure would make an interesting project, tough looking truck

Kenworth made several trucks like this for duty in the Middle East oil fields out in the desert. They had huge ballon type tires. The were done as either bed trucks or heavy duty tractors.

I know that a couple of people have done models of these trucks.

I believe you can find more info on them in Trucks of the Middle East. And most likely Hanks.
