Agent G Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 In 50 years of modelling this is only the second Tiger I I have ever built. It's the Tamiya "Mid-Production" version with their own indy link tracks. I got it in a raffle so I splurged on Tamiy's zimmerit set and a RB barrel. Cables are picture wire using the kit's cable ends. Everything else is scratchbuilt or from a leftover PE set. She's going into primer as we speak. G
Roadrunner Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I like it all. There's better AM cable available, that's twisted (not braided) like the real stuff. How difficult was the zimmerit to attach, and did it fit well? Like a lot of tread heads, I have gobs of references on the Tigers, should you need any specific information.
Agent G Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 I found the Eureka XXL cable exactly 24 hours after I built these. Naturally............. The zimm was easy to work with. It has to be cut from the backing which is not really an issue, just time consuming. It takes some care with initial placement but can be pulled up and repositioned as long as it's not completely down. I found some issues on the mantlet after priming this morning. Some of the more abrupt edges where two pieces meet came up. Probably more me that it! The nice part is that it's mostly transparent, you can see where it's going and where it shoud be. Overall fit and ease of work was very good. I have some DML Tigers in the stash so I will hit you up for references down the road. G
cobraman Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Looking good. Did you ever try to replicate the Zimmerit with putty ?

Agent G Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 Looking good. Did you ever try to replicate the Zimmerit with putty ? Thank you gentlemen! No Jim I haven't. Zimmerit is one of the reasons I usually model German armor from North Africa, those vehicles didn't have it applied............................. G
