Kenny B Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Clayton, Are you able to slide the tandems back on this kit or is that where they stay. I know the old Amt Fruehauf you can slide them. Ken.
Petetrucker07 Posted June 4, 2015 Author Posted June 4, 2015 I believe JT did it on his. I'm gonna make mine fixed.
kilrathy10 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 (edited) This is going to be a good looking truck, Clayton.....It's amazing how much better this trailer looks than that Italeri 48'er.....There's just no comparison.....Can't wait to see this one done.....And those decals DO look good.... Petetrucker07 Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 Thanks JT. I'm back on the truck till I get in the right mind set to do the decals on the trailer. I am using black BMF for the window trim. First time for that. It's going pretty well. This takes a little more time than trying to paint a straight line, but this looks much better.
gatorincebu Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Clayton, I am really liking what I see here. The black BMF looks good. Be careful that you don't srcatch the paint job!! Be Well Gator

martinfan5 Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Nice work Gotta say I am very disappointed that they chose to mold the reissue in blue
kilrathy10 Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Looks good....I didn't even know there was such a thing as black bmf.......Hmm.....How about that...
Petetrucker07 Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 Thanks man. They have BMF in all sorts is colors. I got the interior done. It's really basic, generic if you will. The windshield is the only glass installed. The rest will be blacked out.
kilrathy10 Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) Looks good....The decals are plenty good enough for the dash.....And I have only installed the front side windows on one of my Volvos.....Except one where I posed it with them half way down.....Had to shape the bottom halves to fit, but it came out pretty good.....An easy, but effective little perk..... Petetrucker07 Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 Thanks JT. Slowly plugging away. I got the grille mounted and step tread plate installed.
Petetrucker07 Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 I'll tell ya man. It's way less stressful than trying to paint the trim.
Petetrucker07 Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 Hopefully 3rd times the charm for this sunvisor. The paint keeps wrinkling. I used the same process as everything else. Some reason it wants to wrinkle.
Kenny B Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Hopefully 3rd times the charm for this sunvisor. The paint keeps wrinkling. I used the same process as everything else. Some reason it wants to wrinkle. Well, I wonder......Don't ask me paint questions. Looking good. Ken.
Petetrucker07 Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 Well, I wonder......Don't ask me paint questions. Looking good. Ken. Thanks man. That's funny. Don't let that brown-purple-red disaster get you down man. You do great work.
Petetrucker07 Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 Well, 3rd time was the charm, barely. It has some bad orange peal, almost wrinkles in it, but not wrinkles. The mirrors seem a little off, but I cut the mounting pins off and they fit better.
gatorincebu Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Clayton, You are doing a real fine job on this build! This will make another fine addition to your showcase. Be Well Gator
Petetrucker07 Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 I got a little bench time in today. I managed to get the glass put in. I also mounted the CB antennas.
Petetrucker07 Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 The truck is just about done. The fog light lenses and a couple small things lef6. The trailer I need to get the decals on it, cleat it then this will be a wrap. Maybe a little bench tomorrow.
kilrathy10 Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Well, you've got a great looking truck, already.....I like the antennas.....Can't wait to see this baby finished.....Awesome....
Petetrucker07 Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 Thanks JT. Here are a couple of pics of what I managed to get done today. I applied the decals and cleared the trailer. I also got the skirts and bracing on, as well as the DOT bumper.
Petetrucker07 Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 (edited) Well, this build is on hold till who knows when. The decal on the left side of the trailer are ruined. My own fault, being impatient. I taped off the bottom rail to paint it. While removing the tape, it ripped the decal in half. So, this is off the bench till I find another decal sheet. Petetrucker07 Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 Yep. I put 3 good coats of clear over the entire trailer. Yesterday was around 90 degrees, no humidity. I let sit outside for about 10 hours, then it sat over night. I know put tape on too soon. I was hopin I'd get lucky since I was impatient.
