johnbuzzed Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) What i'd like to ask, Greg, is what makes you think every modeller across this big wide World likes everything you like? Or wants what you want kitted, kitted? Or has the same interests as you? You sure do post a lot of Why don't *revell/AMT etc make this/that & the other...? Are there not enough kits/subjects out there at the moment to fill up your free/spare/leisure time?? I'm curious?? Because every thread you've started regarding these topics ( new/reissues etc ) I have absolutely NO interest in whatsoever... & I doubt if I'm the only one.... To paraphrase Rosanne Rosanadanna: "Mr. Hemified71, you ask a lotta questions." One of the reasons for the Forum is entertainment- and there are a lot of us older guys who wax nostalgic, and we like to see these older examples of kits. We find them to be entertaining. Remember- you don't have to read ANY of the posts in the forums. So, move along if the topic doesn't suit your tastes. Edited July 13, 2015 by johnbuzzed

karbuildr Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Hear! Hear! Thanks for posting all those cool old kits Greg. Funny thing is, I remember all of them, and in fact "built" quite a few during the golden days of my youth.
peekay Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Greg, those early Monogram Fords were my favourite kits as a young teenager and I've bought the 30, 34 and 36 kits again in recent years (for somewhat more dosh than I paid in 1962). I think they've stood the test of time well - but must admit I see them with nostalgic eyes. The wire wheels in the 34 are as good as any I've seen since.

Ace-Garageguy Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) Monogram's very first plastic kit was the venerable Midget Racer, somewhere around 1/18 or 1/20 scale, molded in acetate. I have a red acetate built-up, nicely done but somewhat warped, and a first-run unbuilt acetate one still in the box. It's been re-issued a bazillion times, with the later versions molded in styrene. And no, it shares absolutely nothing with the Kurtis midgets of a few years back. Edited July 13, 2015 by Ace-Garageguy

b-body fan Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 (edited) I'd love to have one of those just to have it. Cool stuff!!! Edited July 14, 2015 by b-body fan
russosborne Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I don't know. All these kits Greg posts makes me sad. Sad that I can't afford them all that is. I love seeing them. I think the artwork was just so much better back then, a re-release with that artwork to me is a must have. Thanks Greg. Russ
Jantrix Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 This is a public forum, no? It's a 2-way Street... If Greg's allowed to have an opinion, then why aren't the rest of us? And if you think kit manufacturers are popping in from time to time on forums... While that MAY be true, like once a year, then where are all the kits that Greg & the like speak of?? Or were you just referring to the "American" manufacturers?? Yep it's a public forum. A scale model forum. Greg's posts are about scale models. You are not stating an opinion, you are complaining. I can point you to some religious and political sites if that is what you enjoy doing. As I said, if Greg's posts irritate you, please feel free to not participate in his threads. Problem solved.

Or were you just referring to the "American" manufacturers?? Well, ya know, this IS an American-based forum. put up by an American magazine, aimed primarily at the US customer base. And the recent issue of newly-tooled oldies like the Slingster (Sizzler-based) vintage dragster, the partially-retooled and back-contented kits like the '32 Vicky and the '36 Ford, and the all-new older cars like the Revell wagon and the upcoming Revell '28 and '31 Ford hot rods is a pretty good indication that somebody, somewhere, is hearing what the more vocal modelers want...quite possibly from perusing forums like this, at least in part.
