oldcarfan Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Not sure exactly what category this fits, but figured this might be the closest, so here goes. It's one of the old Lindberg or Hawk(?) 1/32 scale cars that had rubber band power. The body is close enough to pose as a 1/25 car, so I built a crude chassis and put a flathead in it and called it good. One of these days I'll figure out how to do decals.
iBorg Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Looks good!I've often thought of doing the same thing but use the Revell/Monogram flat head midget for chassis and running gear.
oldcarfan Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 The engine I used was out of a 1/24 40 Ford truck so it was really too big. The one out of the midget would probably fit really well.
horsepower Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 There are actually a lot of Bonneville records that were set on a circular course, Mickey Thompson set a few in a couple of Mustangs, and Buddy Baker and the K&K Dodge Charger from NASCAR set some, there are still a few that are FIA endurance records for time and distance that still stand, but I doubt if the salt will allow room for a five mile circle track to be set up again.
detailstymied Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 again, this year it's going nowhere fast: http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2015/07/22/unsalted-bonneville-speed-week-canceled-for-second-year-straight/?refer=news
