FORDSVTPARTS Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 (edited) I love Rat rods but I've been seeing a trend in real rods towards real old rods that are being dug out of storage and brought back to life. Thats what I imagined for this car. '32 Ford sedan, started as the Switchers kit. I chopped it, channeled the front a bit and left the rear high for attitude. Fabricated a suicide mount with a big drop up front and dropped in a parts bin Hemi, The wheels are from the "Boss Nova" drag car. The headlights are made out of 1/72 scale Messershmitt drop tanks. The car is painted with Model Masters flat medium green and buffed out with a common kitchen scrub pad and given a wash of black. Edited March 4, 2008 by FORDSVTPARTS
Darrell Gwinn Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Sweet, I like the approach you took to not make it a rat.
dub Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Cool rod! I like the headlights and thats a great job on the body. Have you tried any pastel weathering yet? It gives the dirty look a whole new dimension.
FORDSVTPARTS Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 Thanks for the nice comments guys, I try new stuff all the time and this is probably my favorite build yet. I wanted it to look old but not have it look like someone found the body out in a field and threw it on a modern frame to make a "Rat" out of it. I wanted the "found in a garage under a bunch of old junk look, Like it was locked away in the late '60's and brought back to life. I've got a '29 pickup in the works next and I have no idea what will happen with that one yet.
58 Impala Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Really nice job, love the stance. Nice clean detailing.
