AzTom Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I found this kit in a box that has been stashed away for maybe 20 years so I decided it was time to make a display piece out of it. Got it cleaned up some, holes drilled, front and rear axles assembled. And in primer. Going to have to grind off those screw heads. Thanks for looking.
cobraman Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Interesting little kit. Will the tires hide those screw heads ?
AzTom Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 Ray, The screw heads still show a little so as I mentioned, they had to come off. I just hit them with the Dremel. The decal is on a red background so the paint is going to have to match that rather close. Digging through my test spoons I found MM lacquer Flame Red a near perfect match. After seeing how nice it looked in red, I decided the flat disc steering wheel was not going to work either. Off to the parts bins.
GrumpyGrowly Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 A pony you say. Belongs to a buddy, like you he wants his for show.
AzTom Posted August 18, 2015 Author Posted August 18, 2015 Nice! I found a steering wheel and decided to add an air cleaner. I also black washed the grill. This was a fun quick build. Loaded ready for the tractor show.
GrumpyGrowly Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) Wow Awesome, Steering wheel looks great. My grandfather had a steel wheel Massey-Harris GP. He called it Massey grey. Loved that thing, not sure what happened to it when he past. Edited August 18, 2015 by GrumpyGrowly
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Nice!!! I had 2 MH Pacers which look like a Pony but has a larger engine. They even use the same sheet metal. I would like to get hold of one of those to model my old tractor. Do you know where I could find one?
AzTom Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 Thanks for the kind words. Jonothan, Is this the GP your talking about? Brian, That is a very nice looking tractor. I bought this kit at least 20-25 yrs ago and it cam in a small clear bag with no markings. I don't remember who cast these or where I bought it, sorry I have a Pony in 1/16 scale that was made by JLE Scale Models. Should be able to find one of these for around $30.00. Universal Hobbies has a 1/43 that is more detailed than the kit I built for around $18.00. I think I saw that UH will also be doing a high detailed 1/16 scale Pony. JLE 1/16

AzTom Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) I would guess a real one of these would be worth some money today. Edited August 19, 2015 by AzTom
GrumpyGrowly Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Yes I asked $$$ , It was sold to a collector by my uncle. The money went to the VA.
AzTom Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 Thanks. The barn was made by Ohio Art. It is tin but only 8 in wide. The JD and Ford tractors are Ertl 1/43.
