Mike 1017 Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 This 36 was done as one of the box art rendition. This AMT kit was miserable to build. But I did finish it.
Al Hoffman Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 You did a great job on this dog of a re-release. I built the kit when it first came out & the current version. Granted my expectations were not as high when this kit first came out but this latest version takes the cake.Glad you stuck with it.
Rotorbolt73 Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 What made it a miserable kit? I recently got one of these and I've never built it before.
Al Hoffman Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Bear in mind that this is an old, cranky guy voicing an opinion but in my humble opinion the molds are more than worn out. None of the body panels on mine would line up, the door panels are different thicknesses right to left and if you build it with the trunk lid closed I had to do a lot of shimming & block sanding to get a respectable fit. If you turn the fenders over there are globs of plastic that need to be evened out. That was a day's worth with the Dremel, files & sandpaper. The good news is that as far as I know this is the first time since the original release that the kit comes with all the original parts and there is no such thing as an unbuildable kit. Micheal's build is proof of that.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I like it a lot!! Great to see the once vanished trunk lid there

Built one myself as a bone stock '36, and had to rescribe the door lines. The roadster doors are shorter.
